    I think a few teams have done this by mistake in the past. It's a bummer I'm sure.

    Someone should write up a rule to get out of this:
    -player is released from contract
    -team must pay single season salary
    -player can not be re-signed by team

    Or something.

      i just chalk it up to not paying attention. We'll just have to see if he minds sharing the role.
