Facepack Installed

I downloaded and installed the facepack found here:

It contains 25,000 random pictures, so should give us enough for awhile. Most of the pictures have logo's, some from major league teams and some from minor leagues teams. You probably will even recognize some of the faces. This might take away from the immersion for some so let me know if you don't like it.

To install on your local PC, you can download the file from http://ootp.oldredboat.com/news/html/images/images.zip
This file contains all player photos and team logo's and is currently about 18 MB. Unzip this file to the BLB.lg\news\html\images directory.

lol. I didn't realize there were so many MLB players in there. I'll scrap the facepack if you guys don't like it.

It's actually a better idea to have it then not to have it. It isn't really a big deal to me whether or not there are actual MLB faces in there. It adds a little more "flavor" to the league.

Apparently Pawtucket is still in the process of integrating it's team. Either that or the previous owners really disliked minorities.

I really got screwed though, my #1 pick, a starting pitcher is wearing a chatcher's helmet and chest protector. We're a little worried about the scouting done on him.

My #2 pick though is a middle reliever and sports Rod Beck in a Sox uni, so I'm happy. I'm debating calling him up to the big leagues just for that reason, I wonder if he has the trailer behind CF where he lives and gets loaded like Beck did.

Calvin James is actually some kids high school picture.



Overall I like the change. I didn't recognize most of them. They also made all the Japan players have Asian looking pictures, but they didn't do it for China and Korea. So they at least did some sort of matching names to picture type

I might go through the random folder this week and delete any MLB pictures I find as well as any of the other strange ones (catchers, high school, etc)

You may want to check dupes too. Player 1234, 1235 and 1236 all have the same picture. 1280-1282 are all Luis Gonzalez. It seems to be back loaded if you sort them. Seems to be a bug because there's actually quite a few duplicates and triples all in a row.

Player_1742 is Giambi with that stupid ass grin on his face, cracks me up everytime.

If you just got rid of the bigger MLB players, like Giambi, Gonzo and Manny then I'd just leave the rest of them.

The images don't work on the web version. I think it's just because the files have caps and the html pages are created without caps. I'll work on updating this today and deleting some of the major leaguers. Expect your player's images to change when the new file is uploaded

The program I used actually looks at a player's nationality when assigning a photo. Right now it only does Japan, but I think he eventually wants to include other countries as well.

Ok I updated the facepack so you should see completely new faces on your players. The new pack has about 8000 minor league and college players. There may be some duplicates, which we can't really do anything about, but you shouldn't see any MLB players.

The link in the first post should work, so please dowload it again and unzip it into your blb.lg/news/html/images folder, overwriting the existing files.
