    14. CONTRACTS
    • If Team Option is used the Buyout must be the difference between Option year and highest Guaranteed year.
    • Only one Team Option may be used per contract, and it must be in the last year of the contract. This prevents people from stacking Player Options after the Team Option.
    • Players cannot be signed to contract extensions until after they have received their third arbitration contract. Players become eligible for contract extensions once they have three "Received a 1-year contract worth a total of $xx through arbitration." in their player history.

Most of my offers are still pending. It seems like free agents are taking longer to react than we're used to. Not much to do this sim.

So was it just my team that a certain shortsop wanted $200 MM? Surprised with the result in one sim.

Not a bad sim for me, as we added a couple relievers that I think can help us out. I offered Manny Ochoa a bit more than he was asking - I expected other teams to be involved there - and he signed early. I think he'll fill Troy Martin's role nicely. Also signed Victor Contreras to a small one-year deal. I needed to grab at least one lefty reliever in free agency, so he fits a need.

A bunch of minor league guys as well. Also signed Dale O'Hegarty to be Assistant GM. I don't know if I needed to do that or not, but I figure his experience in Virginia will bring some "winning culture" to the front office.

O'Hegarty and DC have a really strange history.

First, I bashed Clay for years after ripping off a newbie GM when he stole prospects O'Hegarty and Poling. But that's not even the weird part. After 11 seasons in Virginia, including seven All-Star appearances, Clay put O'Hegarty on waivers in 1993. The Colonials had something like a 20-25 game lead in the Stout, and was by far the best team in baseball. I didn't understand then, nor do I now, why O'Hegarty was on waivers at that time. He had a .391 OBP and was a key member of the franchise. I put in claim thinking either a lower standing team would claim or Clay would pull back....but neither happened and O'Hegarty became a Washington Bat for 32 games. That year Virginia went on to lose to Los Alamos, stopping there three-peat bid. It was the only time they didn't win the Brewmaster's from 1991-1997.

At the time, I thought my claim is what prevented their Championship...I don't know what to believe now.

O'Hegarty coming to be a GM is a nice addition to the story.

Baltimore goes on the Walmart shopping spree for their pitching staff.

We bring back Tamieke, add former Dinos' workhorse Troy Donovan and lefty reliever, Jimmy Cornell all for less than 8MM per.

Now, there is no pressure to rush Cooper, Falvey or Cook and the first two can rehab and get some experience at AAA before making the jump. Great start to the off-season.

After being traded and missing out on the Mohawks first playoff run and eventual championship, Chang-weon Kahng signed a Pawtucket friendly contract to remain a Bulldog for 3 more years at just 4.4MM per. It was noted that he signed primarily out of loyalty to the organization.

He's only been in Baltimore one season.

He had a little bit of a down season in Morgantown in 2014, and yet you believed in him enough to trade a first round pick and more for him.

Maybe it meant something to him.

Pawtucket resigned 'Spot'. (Shaking head). For what it's worth he's probably a setup guy now which was sorely lacking having a lefty option out of the pen.

Noticed we haven't taken advantage of this 30 A ball thingy so working on that next.

I think Fred Schubert is the oldest player in BLB history to win his first Defense With Integrity Award.
