Is this the same as the player search, where you can input a players name, or partial name, and the game lists everything that matches?

Schubert's contracts over his career has been all over the map. I watched his value plumment after a piss poor season in 2013 with Syr and scooped him off the scrap heap for 3.6ml which I knew was a complete steal. Stuck him in RF where he quickly learned and had a nice season OPS over .800 again. Z gave him only a moderate bump to 4.5 but traded to Pitt where as expected his OPS ballooned over .944!!!!

      What a career recovery.

Ironically, he was basically a late-addition/throw-in part of that deal. Then in 57 games he hit .296 with a .944 OPS and 2.3 WAR.

Trying to lock up Flores long-term.
I think we're going to see a lot of players putting themselves onto the open-market with outrageous demands.
He wanted 8 years at $22M/each.

I was able to get him down to 6 years (with the last being a team option) and averaging about $17M a year.

But I'm not doing that. I can't give him that cash and afford to extend Jamie and Douglas, not to mention Baisden. Reyes is going to get a healthy raise soon too.

Some hard decisions for teams with a low payroll.

It does suck not being able to keep the guys you drafted. We're at a catch 22 not being able to sign guys either before or during arbitration, but outside of waiting for that arbitration period to end before we can resign them, I don't know that we have any good alternatives to keep from gaming the system.

Hall, Gray, and Morales are all getting expensive too. It does add realism though planning your future salaries around guys entering the expensive phases of their careers.

Don't get me wrong. I didn't want to make it sound like I'm complaining.
I like the added realism and decisions that are needed to be made.

I think of poor Todd Robideau and his unrealistic demands last year and he had to settle for $5M. Now he's asking for $17M again, haha.

There are a million ways to build a team. However, you should almost always be able to re-sign the guys you drafted, even if you hit on 100% of picks, as long as you aren't bringing in outside, expensive talent. Robert English at $14M, Dave Johnson at $14.5M, Adrian Pulido at $13.5M, etc. Or in Morgantown, Ling-lai Pang at $12.5M, Vinny Flores at $13M, Konish at $8.5M, etc. Those are the ones that really add up.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying bringing in outside talent is a bad move. Trading for Dave Lippert ($14M) almost single-handled won me the 2012 Brewmaster's with his post-season performance. All I'm saying is we have seen teams draft very well, avoid adding expensive outside imports, be able to re-sign their guys to big paydays and win...but it's not easy.

Even further, I'm a victim of trading for outside expensive talent too. Letting 2B Danny Romero walk was a huge mistake for the Washington Bats...I moved up in the draft to get him, thought he was arguably the best talent in that draft. But I got greedy, added expensive talent, got the ring, but then couldn't afford to bring him back after a down campaign. Look what he has done for the Dallas franchise.

Oh, I didn't take it that way, I just wish the game handled it better, but I think overall, we do a good job incorporating good house rules to make the game as fair and fun for as many of us as possible.

And yeah, it'll probably be a rinse and repeat thing for a lot of these players asking for big money, only to have to settle for a fraction.

I agree, I think the commish team does a great job of managing house rules in order to keep things fair and realistic.

I have some hard choices to make after this season, but I don't mind. That's half the fun.

You don't have to be so nice to the commish. This isn't Clay. No one's sprites are taking an inadvertent plunge.

Remember when you "defied" him what the outcome would be??

LOL! Who is this Clay you speak of and what would happen if you defied him?

We really need this added to the history of the league somehow.

It's too good not to share. I think it's awesome we've come this far in spite of what he did.
