2015 Regular Season SIM 19 Complete - Next SIM Thu 02/25

Personally, I think keeping a guy in the minors when they are ready is a waste of talent. I don't care much about service time or awards. I'm interested in whether a player can add significant value at the BLB level for as long as he can. That sometimes means he needs to get promoted at an early age.

It is risky. But then again, there are also big rewards when it is pulled off successfully. And I tend to take more risks in this league than most GMs.

Thanks! September is just around the corner. It'll give me a few days to decide. Then your team is lousy, it gets hard to not bring young guys up.

In your case, I'd go for the higher pick. ;)

The 2014 draft was a great one. It's kind of cool seeing how some years are more bountiful than others.
                  (2012 was horrendous)

My 1st round pick, Dave Baldwin, went straight to AA and was in the BLB by next season and performing well.

Dave Bound was my 3rd round pick and he looks to be on the cusp of starting next year.

Eric Lucas was my 2nd round pick and at first, was rated higher than Bound.
He's struggling a bit at AAA but some of that has to do with injuries.
I'm grooming him for 1B hoping for him to take over for Feliciano when he retires.

There are a few other guys from that draft are doing well and hopefully make the BLB in some capacity in the future.

I had to trust my scout with Baldwin. He wanted him in AA to start and then recommended he be brought up this season.
I was worried it was too soon, but in this case, my scout was right.

It's been fun seeing how the scout can hit bullseyes at times, but whiff on others.
Seems realistic to what goes on in real life.

If Baltimore and Batavia were still in the Porter I think the Milt Stoll/DJ Gosser battle of 1st round picks would be fun to watch in a season or two.
