Tom Wright gets his extension and rejoins our line-up for the stretch run. We'll put him on a 5 game a week plan. My block is updated if anyone is looking to add playoff parts in the next two weeks before the deadline.

Plenty of interesting races in both the leagues and lots of faces competing for the first time.

A bad week but we're at .500. After playing so poor the first half of the year hopefully getting rid of the grumpy guys helps us make the playoffs.

Urgh Pittsburgh is rallying fast and breathing in our back.

We gave Contreras a chance but he's not ready to be a starter yet. He will be in our bullpen for now.

Cuesta is out of the trade block. We need Herrera back!

Tough week against Paw and Mai... Our play off race starts now!

Ruedas down for two months. Personally, I thought he might be done for the year so I feel we dodged a bullet there with shoulder inflammation instead of something like a tear. Time for Romey to come up and see what he can do.

Finally had a good series against those pesky Playboys!
They always play us really hard so it was nice to have a nice series against them.

I also discovered what Feliciano's problem was. Me.
I was so hellbent on forcing him into the 3-hole, that I didn't consider that perhaps at his advanced age he'd be better with a different role.
Since moving him to the 5th spot, he's hit .303 with 5HR's and 11 RBI.
Hopefully his minor power surge continues.

The thing I'm most thrilled about is my fan interest. It began the season at 53.
Since making that deal with the Kodiaks, it's skyrocketed to 72.

Jaime, Flores and Pang are all hitting very well for me as well as providing much needed defense.
And my pitching seems to have settled into a nice groove too.
Hopefully they can keep it up.

On a prospect note, my 2nd and 3rd round picks from this year are shining in A-Ball.
17-year-old, Jahiem Byrd is killing it with a .440 average.
He's not hitting for any sort of power yet as all of his 11 hits are singles, but we feel that will come with experience.
OSA had his potential ratings at 4,5,4,4,3 while my scout has him at 4,5,5,7,5.
It'll be interesting to see which scouting report is more accurate.
He's not going to be a world beater with those numbers, but maybe he'll be a serviceable BLB bat at some point in his career.
Young SP, Ted Workinger is also doing well in his inaugural pro-season.
              In 6GS (36IP), he's 5-1 with a 1.50 ERA and 38K's.

Closer, Khalil Corey is another story.
I probably picked him too early in the 3rd round. I don't believe he was supposed to go in the top 100, but I liked the numbers my scout had him at.
He's another prospect where the difference in potential ratings between the OSA and my scouts are far apart
OSA has him with 4,5,6, where my HS likes him with 7,5,7.
So far, according to his numbers, OSA's report seems to be more accurate.
              In 13 games, he's 0-2 with 7SV's and a whopping 11.00 ERA - although last week he recorded 3 saves and a 2.53 ERA.

Not sure which BLB owner mentioned this, but it does appear that there are more guys doing more with limited ratings
I have a closer in AAA that has gone from A to AAA in less than one calendar year and has yet to record an ERA of more than 1.80.
OSA actually has him rated higher than my scout (6,4,5 > 5,4,4).

I like how the scouts aren't perfect and neither are the OSA rankings.
Someone here once said that stats don't like and I believe that to be truth.
Luna's numbers weren't very good as a starter in college, but when moved to the bullpen he shaved nearly 5 runs off his ERA.
That's what attracted me to him.
As a 7th round pick, if he can make it to the Show and be a decent bullpen arm for me, I'll be really happy.

Millers are a good team. They got off to a bad start and Mike made some smart moves to get the team going in the right direction. The races are heating up!

The experienced GMs aren't going anywhere. Especially the ones lurking around .500. A couple strategy changes, a call up or two, or a trade could put their teams very much back into the conversation.

BTW, I think it's hilarious that Roberto Jamie is still ticked off about the trade.
He's also unhappy with this performance.
                      He's hitting .294 with 11HR's and 46RBI in only 54 games as a Mohawk.
Prorated over 162 games that's 33HR's and 138 RBI. His best season yet as a pro.

I wish his fielding was a bit better. His range is okay, but his ZR is well below what his numbers were in the past two seasons in California.

It'll take probably the whole season for things to jell. Turning over rosters or adding big pieces is easy, expecting them to all fit together and play well is the hard part that separates great teams from flash in the pan ones.

Good to have Jarrod Rowles back.

He hit for the cycle against New York.

Would have been nice to have him for most of this season.

Speaking of Jaime, there's an infielder on the block with a career OPS 51 points higher, can also play 3B, and has a higher ZR at SS in his career, even prorated by games played, who won't cost multiple prospects and picks.
