$24M is a lot of money for a guy who can't play the field or hit anymore.
Happens all the time. It is a complete guessing game with anyone over 32.

My scout sees the decline though. 5-5-6-5-4 current ratings.

It's just baffling over how hard he hit that wall.
He hit 42 HR's in 2013 and now has 27 homers in his last 219 games.

      Caveat emptor I suppose.
I was so excited about possibly having the BLB leader in HR's and a reason for the fans to show up, that I overpaid for his loyalty and service.

      Won't happen again.

4-2 sim and we are back above .500, lost 1/3 from DVS and swept Los Alamos.

Still probably need another impact bat to make a serious run. With Robinson graduating, I have four top 40 prospects. Dave Jackson is slowly starting to get it but is still a ways of. I'm being patient with Gordie Gugliotta but I may have to give a shot soon on this team.

On a different note, I’m hoping for some sage advice here.

The last two seasons I’ve noticed that Regin Baisden starts off the season very well as a SP, but mid-way through he loses steam.
Last year I moved him to the bullpen as a setup and sometimes closer where he did pretty well to finish the season. Enough that I was looking to pencil him in as our permanent closer.
But due to an injury to Maher, I moved him back to the rotation to start this season where the same pattern as last year has unfolded.

Considering his low-stamina (that’s what she said), is this an obvious sign that I’m missing?
That perhaps he’s better suited for closing out a game than starting one?

Personally, I think he's just young and inexperience at just 25. He's on the Top Pitchers' List as a starter so I'd give him a few more years to try and work out the kinks to see if he could last the whole season.

Todd Taylor (SP) was the exact opposite for me. In his early years, he consistently played like trash the 1st half of the season but after the All-Star break he was a monster. Then in 2010, it was like a lightbulb came on and he started pitching well to start the season and up until this year, has been arguably, one of the Top 3-5 pitchers in the league.

I say give him a couple more years to put together a whole season of success. Who knows, this may be that year for him.

Just my two cents though because looking at our standings position, I'm clearly not a sage.

I agree with Carlos, leave him in the rotation and see how he progresses this season. Maybe try a 6 man rotation once a month to give him a rest as the season goes on.

6 man rotation him. I've had success with that strategy.

Even with a decline his power wouldn't have dropped to a 2.

Seems like a lot of bad luck and ridiculously unfriendly dice rolls for him. Yes, he is aging. And he's likely not going to be the 40 homerun guy he once was. But zero home runs is beyond normal even for a guy that's struggling.

Eckstein currently has more home runs than him. Do you think Eckstein leaves him texts about it?
