After Herrera's trade Graffing has find himself in AAA, with Gamboa in contract year, hopefully the youngster will give us a reason to not pay $10M next year for the former all star

The biggest problem might have simply been the return.

Here's what you received for Wright, for example.

        1. 1B Byung-gyu Lee, 26 years old. Debuted for Denver this year. Currently 2 for 14 at the plate.

        2. OF Jimmy Jones. Batted .202 in 93 games for Denver BC.

        3. 1B Ian Eberly. 24 years old, .711 OPS for Denver's AA affiliate this year.

        4. LF Tristan Carter. 24 years old, .677 OPS for Denver's AAA club.

        5. 2015 1st round draft pick, 18th overall. Traded to Baltimore with two other firsts for Todd Taylor, who was later sent to Pittsburgh for Maine's 2015 first round pick, which became the 19th pick, and Pittsburgh's 2017 first round pick.

Two first basemen who can't really hit, a rental outfielder who didn't hit, a minor league outfielder who might make the BLB, and a late first round pick that was later traded, for one of the league's best hitters.

        That is not ideal.
You can make things look bad if you ignore the good, Z.

Lee has a AAA leading 18 home runs and is just been promoted to the BLB. He's had one week. Hardly a reason to say he can't hit. He was also a top 100 prospect that dropped out because he's 26.

Eberly is learning a new position and isn't a power hitter. He does have a .294 average.

Carter finished 2nd last season in MVP voting in AA. He's now playing at AAA for the first time.

The trade of Taylor also returned a first round pick in Jimmy Evans who is learning AA.

Jimmy Jones was a rental. That's right.

I didn't mean to shit on the return. I just meant that you traded one of the best hitters in the league two years ago, and for two years the Denver BC BLB club hasn't been benefiting on the field from that trade.

Oh I know you didn't mean it in that way. I think you were just commenting on how they are doing.

You're right, I traded for future rather than now. And then sometimes I trade for now. Then I go back to future. Five minutes later, it's now.

I need to stop doing that. It's like an addiction to keep changing paths.

I am going to stop doing that. I have to stop doing that. Or I can keep doing that and remain in this endless loop of stop and go.

No more "fuck it's" (sorry Mike). No more trading just to trade (sorry Pat since you're working with Mike and might suggest asking for one of my players since I'm addicted to trading them).

                  I'm sobering up guys.

I don't anticipate a lot of trading from the Millers this year. Mike spent the off-season bringing in a lot of new players all across the diamond. We are still trying to figure out the strongest 25-man group.

Contender or pretender, what you see is what you get from the 2015 Millers.

I've heard from a source that the 2015 Millers are the highest tipping team in the league so there's a lot of goodwill built up and because of this I'm anticipating a turnaround

                            Intriguing

As one of the newbies, I found this conversation very intriguing. I've only had one off-season, but went for it, by signing Vega to bolster a pitching staff that lost its ace, thinking last year's offence would continue. Then almost immediately changed strategies by having a fire sale to build for the future. It looks like I'm going to have to base the soundness of that decision on my future picks.

That being said, holding onto guys until a great offer becomes available is a valid approach, one that I think umd (and Pat before) in particular excels at.

It seems to me like, looking around the landscape of the league over a few decades of seasons, flipping stars for subpar returns—especially consistently—isn't a winning strategy long-term.
On the flip side, holding onto players too long (decline, major injury, or large contract extension) isn't ideal either. Patience is great, but only if you think a market will eventually emerge for said star.

As Prez said, the DEN situation had a lot to do with having so much hitting talent that couldn't field or even worse wasn't versatile. For example Tom Wright was barely a LF. Perkins fielded decently ratings wise but only in RF. McInturf couldn't catch. Carlos did keep his better fielders... Middle IFs Wilkinson and Eckstein.
