        No, not exactly.

Feinerman went undrafted last year and no one signed him, which means on April 6, he re-entered the pool for this year's draft.

On April 15, Batavia signed him, which removed him from the draft pool in-game.

However, the draft utility we use on the website had already pulled the in-game draft pool from before then. So Feinerman remains in the utility.

        • Good detective work.

How do we remedy this in the future? Start the draft close to the in-game date and then stop the league if we don't finish?

          Comment

          • Not sure we need that dramatic a change.

This issue only happens with guys who went undrafted last year and then weren't part of a team's organization this year.

Which is to say, it only occurs with guys who likely are not any good and whom no one cares much about.

Maybe if you draft someone—presumably with a late round pick, because again, we're talking about players who aren't good—you have to remake the pick on someone who is not with a team.

It should be a GM's responsibility to make sure they're not drafting someone on another team's roster. Which is easy—it just means looking at the guy's player card.

If you use a draft pick on a guy whose player card you haven't even looked at, then you probably don't care much about him and repicking some other guy isn't a big deal.

To be clear, by remaking a pick, I don't mean rolling back the draft. I just mean picking from someone who is still available at whatever point in time the problem is noticed.

Ex. If I autopick Feinerman in the 10th round, and we notice after the draft is over, the pick can be changed to someone else who went undrafted.

            • Yeah this doesn't seem like a big problem. Like Z said, these are usually garbage minor league filler type players. That solution seems fine.

drafting Witt since he's terrible according to OSA.

                But my scout loves him.

I don't know either. Stats don't look so good. Doesn't have an obvious position.

                    I know.

But I had him at the top of my draft list from last night and I hate going against my research even when it looks wrong the next day.

4-5-4-8-5 with elite speed. Probably can field 2B with his range and error, stats aren't awful and he has high WE.

If that scouting report is to be believed, sure. He's fine then.

I'm still learning when to trust a scouting report and when to throw it out.

                        • There's a couple guys in this draft that my scout loves that are still on the board. Oddly, despite his glowing scouting report for them, they aren't high on his draft list. OSA might as well be scouting an entirely different player their opinion differs so much. Not sure what do in these situations. Obviously no one else's scout agrees or they'd be off he board by now.

                            • Dont forget to set those draft lists...especially if you aren't gonna be around for a while during the day, best way to make sure you add players you want during the most important time period of the season. Keeps the draft moving and prevents you from taking Dwayne Bartlett.
