Arbitration Problem
That's the one problem I see with not being able to sign players to team friendly deals earlier. An arbitrator giving Tom Churchill 14 million for a .250 average and 11 home runs. It's a killer for a team with a limited payroll. It'd be nice if there was a happy median between signing guys too young and too cheap and having to let your older guys walk away because the arbitration is such a crap shoot.

Did he win arbitration from a lowball offer?

Don't tell me about McLamore, he signed his $22M+ per 2 seasons and then he dropped one in eye and contact....
Drunken
He must have to do something over .250 to make me kind of happy, if not twitter will react!

Sanchez ... Oscar Sanchez? I don't know how you got him to sign that below-market contract. Regardless, I'm not sure by what standard his production is similar to Torruella's.
McLamore hit .284 with 12 HR ... in 91 games.
All that is a far cry from Torruella's .266, 15 HR, and league-worst defense in center.
Maybe it was the response to a super low ball offer in arbitration. I don't know. Just seems crazy for a guy who was as bad as Torruella last year (0.8 WAR in a full season) to get a $7 million raise.
I don't think he's a bad player, especially in right. I was looking at him in response to Suarez's concussion. I just don't understand the raise.Maine Guides

All I did was sift through comparable contracts based on VORP and OPS+. Crude, but I think it shows how, especially if he was lowballed, the AI could come to the conclusion that his arbitration numbers are where they are.
Plus he probably moved up a tier with the All-Star game appearance and with us changing the player expectations, boom you've got a 10MM man.Last edited by Delandis; 01-16-2016, 02:29 PM.

I thought he was a steal for the third round. But, at least when it comes to ranking prospects, it's looking like highway robbery.
But I see him as a Goodhart clone so I'm not convinced. Goodhart pitched great in AAA and that never really translated. That being said, if Gotschall wants to continue improving, I'm all for it. He's only 17 (drafted at 16) so his velocity should only increase with time.Last edited by Carlos; 01-16-2016, 02:46 PM.Denver Bulls

Remember, during arbitration, players get a raise every year. They'll never get less than what they got the year before, but they'll always get more. I believe they're guaranteed a raise of 'X' percent at the very minimum, more depending on comparable players stats and service time.

I think I lost every arbitration case this year, and I barely touched the default offers the game suggested. I don't think I've ever had that happen before.
But, looking forward to the season starting. I'm a bit confused as to how one of my A-level players came down with an "Undisclosed injury" during Spring Training. Guess that'll just remain a mystery.
