2015 SPRING TRAINING SIM 1 Complete - Next SIM FRI 01/15
I've always thought that ST doesn't really predict future success or failure for the upcoming season. However, I do think you can get a general idea of the talent level of players when they are given enough reps.
We once lost only 5 games in spring training and missed the playoffs.
I tend to agree with the D-Train on this one. For me team success in spring isn't important. Sure, it's fun to go 20-8 but ultimately I want to see as many people as possible get ABs in the first half of spring, then mid way through I usually try to cut the roster down to where there's about 4-5 extra on the roster and get the guys I expect to be regulars consistent ABs so that come opening day they're ready to go at full speed. Pitching is a bit different, I'll limit my starters as much as possible and move guys around in the pen to get more innings.
But really what it comes down to is limiting injuries in spring. Nothing worse than guys getting hurt in meaningless action.

That's what I do.
And I use the second sim to work in guys who waited until mid-spring training to sign.

Agreed. I usually just go with the AI recommendation during the first half, cut the stragglers, then set up my own rotation to get AB's for the guys on the bubble and vets that are BS'ing and need to get their shit in gear before the start of the regular season.

I do just about the same thing. If rust wasn't a factor in the game, my stars/regulars wouldn't play a damn inning.
