Problem with Loading League File

It looks like there's an issue loading the league file from in the game. When you first load it, you're basically logged in as me so have access to the commissioner functions.

For now, we'll go back to manually downloading the file. The latest file is located at: http://ootp.oldredboat.com/exports/7_30_blb.lg.tar.gz and I'll reactivate the link on the front page.

If anybody has a problem with .gz files, let me know. Most common zip programs will extract them. If yours doesn't, try Zipgenius. You should be able to extract it right to your current blb.lg folder, overwriting any existing files.

I noticed this last night. I downloaded with no problem, but was logged in as you when the download finished. All I did was go to "select user manager" (or something similar) in the menu options, clicked my name, and logged in with my password. No problems after that.

Yes, it seems to work fine after that. The problem is, people could potentially exploit the game using this bug. Not that anyone in this league would, but people could potentially export as other teams, change the ratings scale to 1-100 to get a better look at a player's ratings, etc. This would be especially important after scouts are enabled.

Mahoney found another problem. For some reason IE saves the file with the wrong extension.

The name should be 7_30_blb.lg.tar.gz
IE saves it as 7_30_blb.lg.tar.tar

To fix this, simply change the last .tar to .gz

Also, when extracting it the blb.lg folder is not included so you should extract it to c:\program files...\..saved_games\blb.lg\ overwriting any existing files.

It's the format the game uses to compress the files. It can be compressed more than a *.zip file. Most common zip programs such as Winzip or Zipgenius will extract it. If the program you use has an "extract to" command, point it to your existing blb.lg folder and overwrite all files. If not,. it extracts it to a folder named blb.lg.tar, so you'll just have to delete the .tar.
