In my experience guys don't usually hold out longer than spring training.

As long as teams have payroll though, once guys lower their demands, they'll get scooped up.
This season we'll be able to gauge how this will work. Next year will be an even better opportunity.
But, the market should take care of itself. Either way, this is very interesting, and should add another dynamic to how we'll build our teams, and what we'll value as far as assets go. Good stuff!

Kirby signed late when he was 38 or 39 years old. It's typically players like Kirby who are near the end of their careers who are willing to wait a bit longer.Maine Guides

I did enjoy a lot with this FA class, see who goes after who, a really nice young closer out there waiting for $$$
See tomorrow who went after who :)
Looking forward for it!

It's always beautiful to see the bidding wars, I mean how much other managers are offering! :)

We had some holdouts in ootp 12 that sadly retired because they wouldn't lower demands. Rarely the star player but I'm always reminded of Scot Borkholder because I let him walk because of his demands and expected he would sign somewhere someday.
He wasn't a great defensive catcher but it was during a time when catchers were hard to find in the league and he had a career. 750 OPS. He only played 92 games in his last season because I gave the games to a young catcher in hopes it would prepare him (knowing I was letting Scot walk).
I'm sure if I went through some old threads I could find more. I definitely remember it was a problem we faced as a league, seeing young players retire because of demands we wouldn't meet.Denver Bulls

I'm not really sure what's wrong with a 35+ year old pricing himself out of the game.
Happens all the time, in every sport.
