  • Rare Elite / Very good Talent at 3B

I can see a lot of elite players in the OF and center IF... But as far as I recon elite / very good talent at 3B is very hard to find...

I was looking around in the minors and there are not too many 3Bs who worth a nice trade... Where all the talent in this position is gone????

We're looking for a nice 3B to deal and I can't find him!

Sign of the times. You wont see a ton of elite players at every single position. This is real baseball, man!

Sounds like every MLB GM's problem.

Elite 3B are hard to find.

There are 5 3B in the top 100 prospects but I would expect you would have a hard time prying any of them loose. I know my guy at #12 would cost you dearly if I was interested in giving him up.

Jerrod Frost is available. We like him but I think we're set for a while with Ventura.

Im calling Correa up now that the AAA season is over. I have no intention on trading him, but anyone can be bought at the right price.

After Zurita went down, we somehow carved a serviceable third base out of Davenport cast-off Shane Bell and nearly-collecting-Social-Security Tex Watts.

Jimmy Lee for Pawtucket is listed as a SS, but in all reality he'd be better defensively at 3B. He said some ratings that told me he might pick up SS and least looking at OSA he's up to a 5.

Kid has some nice power numbers in AAA this season. Its a big reason we reached at #6 to get him thought the projection was like 12?? IFers power hitters have become rare. Its becoming more and more like slap hitters.

What is the difference between power, slap and spray hitters??

It was a general statement about his power numbers (aka homeruns, slugging %)

When I mean "slap hitters" guess I mean guys like longtime defensive stud
SS Orlando Saucedo. Kid never become the hitter I wanted him to be, but always played monster D so I chose to ignore his hitting short comings. He can once in awhile hit for average, but never really an extra base hitter and you forget any homerun power of note. Hence the term "Slap hitter"

IFers are such a premium in this league unless I could get them in the draft I refused to pay it. Instead I usually chose to get my offense from the outfield, 1B & catcher. Anything from our IF was a bonus. Just play GREAT defense and help the groundball pitchers out.

Remember, someone has to bat 8th and 9th!

Sometimes you have to identify a player at that position that you want, and want to move forward with and you make an offer that's prob an overpay but he just fits the mold of what you like and want to move forward with. I did that earlier this season when I went after Jamie Davis, I've got a lot of hope for his power bat potential, and as a right handed hitter I think he will thrive in our park, unfortunately he hurt his knee and missed the whole year but moving forward were confident that he and Joey Volkenant can handle the position so we don't have to concern ourselves with that for a while, hopefully.
