For the first time in my 30 seasons in this league, I hired a "potential" scout.

I'm pretty annoyed because I'd need about 500 picks for every high school player that he thinks will be a star.

Should be a slow offseason for us. We have some trade offers out, but I may be fine just bringing back this roster for another shot. We may just start Dowling at SS full time now and give Tyler Cohen another ST to see if he's capable of being our everyday C. I'm not too impressed with FA. I think there are a lot of bad teams with spare money to burn and flip FA, so I don't expect too many late FA values.

1B Jamie August has climbed to #19 on the Top Prospects list and Pellicano could probably debut in the rotation next season instead of this year. He might actually be better off with a current ratings bump in at least one more category, before getting a taste of the BLB.

My gut told me to take August but my scout told me otherwise. That's why he's without a job.

Last time I listen to some of you guys. All I heard was "if you invested lots of money into scouting and listen to your scout, you'll be fine!"

It was a trap I tell you.

Is this the guy you used our pick on?

High schooler so you'll just have to patient. IF Tony Infante was a high schooler and looked like crap his first few seasons in A ball before coming around. He turned out ok.

The key with high schoolers is flat out patience. Almost have to ignore them for the first 3 seasons. Least there's no rule V draft to screw you when the kid starts to figure it out.

Too bad we just never made a rule that high school draftees were exempt until they turned 26.

Yeah I used your pick on him. I learned my lesson in Davenport about patience. Hopefully he can put it together. I invested heavily into player development for this reason.

Most of our stars never make it to FA. GMs often will trade guys they can't afford rather than let them walk and then their new teams extend them.

Smaller market teams used to not be able to afford their stars, so they would hit FA. BLB looks more like NFL in many ways than MLB.
