Pawtucket 5-2 against 2 divisional leaders in LA and Maine.

Newcomer Castillo was cold to start off, but it's possible he can also protect some of our other existing players in the lineup. Think playing at home over time will also give him a boost.

Happy with what we bring to the field everyday.

I believe this is a third straight .500 sim. I think that's what we are.

Before I start considering my own fire sale of our elite outfield, I hope Sheifelbein can come back and replace Steffan.

Maybe have ourselves 4 good starters with Davis hopefully getting through these growing pains just as soon.

3-3 for Wilmington. Started out the sim with a 3 game sweep against Morgantown before getting swept at home by the dominate Philadelphia Freedom. SP Wade Brown hasn't had a decision in his last 2 starts while his ERA still sits above 7.00. While he is better now then when the season started, he still hasn't reached his potential yet this year. The rest of the staff hasn't been any better with not 1 starter having less than a 4.00 ERA. A shake up of the pitching staff is coming soon. This is brutal.

The lineup hasn't been much better with Dave Monks hitting a solid .290 while the rest of the lineup staggers below .265. As much as I want to shake things up with the lineup, there's just not much potential.

          Down on the farm

As much disappointment as there has been on the BLB level, there is a ton to look forward to in Memphis. This is kind of what we expected when we made those trades this off season.

SS Jaylen Johnson (aquired in a trade with NO) has absolutely dominated. In 19 games in AAA he is hitting .359 with a .383 OBP and .551 SLG.
C Norm Deiwert is also killing the ball in AAA with 13 HR and 25 RBI in 23 games. The only thing keeping me from bringing them up is risking their development.

Really looking forward to making my first pick as GM. Can't wait to add to the talented farm system we already have.

A 4-2 week for the Brawlers. We'll know how we are coming along after we paly two of the heavy hitters from the Stout next week.

              No injuries! Unreal!

We stole a game from Syracuse on the road....without three of our best players and our top two starters! Watch out!

              Interesting stat line:

Player IP H R ER BB K HR PI PS ERA
              J. Syvertsen 9.1 7 3 3 0 11 1 123 85 2.76

He went into the 10th inning. Not a fan of that. Lonnie might be losing it in his advanced age. May need to address that this offseason.

Do you have him on a pitch count? If not, he'll pitch as long as he's effective, which he was.

5-2 week, we take 2 of 3 from Washington, 27-17 on the year, and we are STILL in 3rd place. This Stout race is amazing and annoying all at the same time.

I'm guessing Heiberto Rocha (SP) likes his new digs. In his first start as a Bulldog, the Illinois native pitched a gem going 8.3 innings giving up just 1 ER with 0 BB and 9 K in a win vs. Windy City. Surprisingly, he has already sent us an email for a contract extension to stay in Baltimore and it looks like he's willing to give us the Pawtucket discount.

Todd Taylor (SP) has obviously not realized that he already won 2012 Pale Ale because he's pitching even better this year. With 1.57 ERA and 0.81 WHIP he is making an early case as the first back-to-back IL Pale Ale winner since 1980 and 1981 (Joe "The Magician" Ponte who ISN'T in the Hall of Fame btw).

Abraham Santana (C) has three walk-off singles this month, one against Pittsburgh and two more against Washington this past week. Amazingly, he hit them in back-to-back games. Santana has exploded so far this year hitting .340 with a .445 OBP.

After another recently announced trade with California, the Bulldogs will bring 30 year old reliever, Robby Scriber (RP) in to be their full time closer. Sources around the clubhouse say that Scriber has felt slighted ever since Jamie Crook (RP) was brought in from Denver and Scriber was moved from the closer role.

                    Crook is in California.

Edit. I see what you mean. But Crook was a free agent signing.

Tom Aguinaga. This guy. Second rate international FA, signed to an afterthought deal behind Roman Chutz for $3.1 million/1 year. Spends the year in AAA at age 29 before a late season callup, getting 11 starts and performing well enough to keep us from going after a starter hard in the offseason.

Comes back this year and has pitched at least 7 innings each start; has a 1.89 ERA and 0.76 WHIP with a 5.11 K:BB ratio and a 7-0 record.

                        He will fall apart soon.

We sent out cranky players (Nara-Castillo) and a pending FA (Evers) and added two 1sts, a 2nd, and top 35 pitching prospect Gil Peillicano. We could sit tight, then I looked and saw we have that 7 game trip to BAL and then PHI.

So much for that... let's deal some more guys.
