          • We go with Jimmy August here. OSA and scout are close. OSA is at 5-5-7-3-4 and scout is at 5-5-8-4-4. What sold me was his WE and INT. Oh, and the fact that he hit .309 with 23 homers a year for 3 years at Brewster at 50 games a season. His power number may actually hold.

I doubt I stole anything though when I see all the guys going in front of him.

            • With the 8th pick of the second round, Maine selects Dave Kendrick from Heritage High School in Colorado.

We don't normally draft first basemen this high. The last time we did, we ended up burned.

But Kendrick looks special and I wanted to take a shot.

He batted .403 his last year of high school.

In 120 career high school games, he hit .392 with 42 home runs, 132 RBIs, and 128 runs scored.

He looks like he'll be an above-average defensive first baseman.

Earlier this month, he won the Glove Wizard Award and hit for the cycle.

Last month, he concluded a 20 game hitting streak.

The month before that one, he finished a 33 game hitting streak.

OSA puts him at 7 contact, while my scout loves his power and batting eye. Hoping for a compromise there.

We'll see. Our system lacks a big bat.

I like him. If I had him, in 10 years I could trade him for one pick and a minor leaguer drafted in the 10th round.

You're saying you would trade him to Pittsburgh.

If you love Dicks so much, why don't you draft him?

I was just joking around. I'm not drafting a guy just for his porn name.

I thought somebody would take August in the 1st round for sure. Looks like he's going to have some raw power. My scout had similar ratings for him.
