Now onto the pick, I had already made a list of who I wanted and Robinson was my top positional player. There were obviously some really good pitchers on the board- if I could have picked myself I would have been torn between Bartholemew and Robinson to be honest.
I'm pretty happy with the pitching I have and Robinson could be ready to contribute in the next couple of years. All in all, I consider myself real fortunate that auto-pick coincided with what I wanted.
Now time to load up my board so this doesn't happen again!

Pawtucket takes Jimmy Lee. Shows him as a 3B, but were thinking he can handle SS with some practice.PAWTUCKET PATRIOTS

OK, now that the holiday weekend is over I sat down and tried to look at the draft. In single player I can see star ratings for players. Am I not able to see that in MP, or am I just missing it somewhere. How are you guys ranking all these players? All I have figured out how to do is sort them by a single rating, but going through 458 players one rating at a time and then trying to make that make sense seems like a daunting task. In FOF we can use the Draft Analyzer tool. Is there something like that built into OOTP, or can I download one somewhere?
I guess this all boils down to: How can I come up with a decent draft list without spending hours going through each individual player? I'd like to weed out the obvious scrubs and be able to focus my time on relevant prospects.

If you go to the draft pool, click the "Draft List" tab. Then, under available actions, ask Scouting Director for ALL Rounds. This will give you what some consider a "Mock Draft." It's not what your Scouting Director thinks, it's more how he thinks the draft will go. You will find guys that are ranked very high on this list, that he doesn't like. That usually means other GMs around the league like him a lot more.
Besides that, the utility also has a built in "Draft List." Under "sort by" there is an option to sort by "Draft List." Honestly, I'm not 100% sure what this is based off. I think it's based on OSA ratings, but I'm not sure how it rates them.
However, both of these lists are good barometers for how the draft will go. For example, we have six selections so far. My scout had those six players listed #2, #1, #3, #5, #4 and #12 on his draft list. The outlier there is Jimmy Lee but that can be explained by the fact that the game probably doesn't consider his potential at shortstop, which according to Funclown, he thinks he can play. Add to the fact the rarity to find a middle infielder with legit HR power.
We use just a 2-8 scale so most players have an individual rating of 4, 5 and 6. When players are rated so closely together, you have to look at other factors. Besides those draft lists there other factors to consider. Stats are going to be extremely beneficial to your drafting as well as just understanding the BLB.
Your scout can definitely be wrong. It depends on his abilities and your money allocated to the draft. Because of that, it's usually a good idea to consider the OSA ratings as well. A good rule of thumb: If your scout and OSA like the player, that seems like a safe pick. If only one of your scout or OSA likes a player, the player comes with risk.
Besides the draft lists, scouting reports and stats, a lot of GMs favor intangibles very highly. If you read the manual that's available online, these will be explained. However, the intangibles most people rate high are work ethic, intelligence and leadership.Wilmington Wildcats- 2057-

With the 7th overall pick, the Washington Bats select LF J.R. Rhoads.
Not of the "DC mold" and I don't really have a plan for him defensively...but my scout thinks he has the best power and eye potential in the entire drat. Plus, his high school stats are out of this world.
Next up:
1.8 - Hartford
1.9 - California
1.10 - Morgantown
Washington doesn't pick again until 5.6. See you guys in a few days!Wilmington Wildcats- 2057-

I like Rhoades, thought he might slip to me at 15. I think 7 is early for him but he's going to be a nice power bat regardless.
My scout has him at 4-7-8-5-4.Toronto Canadians - 2004-
