    Whoa.

We won two out of three vs. Hartford and three of four from Pawtucket. We're in it!

Veterans C.J. Skinner and Danny Salcedo also signed with Maine. Skinner will eventually join a bullpen that owns a 1.28 ERA this year. Salcedo's exact role is currently unknown. Both will begin in AAA for now.

Congratulations to 40-year-old Sonny Marshburn on his 2,000th career hit.

Condolences to the Pittsburgh Millers on the loss of Jamie Thomas's large pitching elbow.

Pawtuclet 4-3. 14 road games but sit at 15-5 so gotta take that. We will close out the month on the road, but above .500.

On the negative lost 3 of 4 to Maine. We still haven't filled in our 7 game lineup this season due to maybe a bit of cockyness or not wanting to touch things until I saw a need, but next meeting with Maine need to be a bit more prepped.

5-1 sim; 2-1 vs. Baltimore, 3-0 vs. Wilmington

3B/SS Antonio Cardenas might be 38 years old but he's hitting better than ever! Through 18 games, the vet is on pace for 188 hits, 60 doubles, 34 home runs, 119 RBI and 136 runs...with a split of .301/.338/.562/.899 and a 7.0 WAR! Boy am I glad I didn't let him leave.

Speaking of guys that were almost shown the door, 2B Danny Romero has rebounded nicely the first three weeks after a terrible 2012. The 28-year-old got a whopping $13.1M in arbitration but is hitting .345 with a .872 OPS. I definitely expect water to find it's level but if he can hit closer to his career OPS of .747 as opposed his 2012 .623 OPS, I will be pleased.

        IL Pitching/Defense Ranks
        ERA - 2.30 (1st)
        BABIP - .229 (1st)
        Def Eff - .746 (1st)

        IL Hitting Ranks
        OPS - .747 (1st)
        Strikeouts - 120 (1st)

        ***

Tough loss for Mike and the Millers with SP Jamie "Fudd" Thomas hurting his elbow and missing the next 10 months. Big loss for a team with title aspirations. Thomas has been a workhorse but it looks like all those innings caught up with him.

5-1 week and we keep playing strong baseball. My decision to not allow any stolen bases looks like it's paying off to this point, we're maximizing our 27 outs and lead the league in runs scored, and have a run differential of +55.

Danny Melgoza is such a good starting pitcher and he shoved it up our asses for all the shit we talked to Carlos about him.

Losing Fudd blows but it shouldn't impact our title chances...We had a tough decision and needed a place for Kayden 'Smoke' Walker in the rotation since the end of last season. This year he started out on fire in AAA, going 3-1 with a 1.50 ERA in 36.0 IP...surrendering 33 hits and dropping a 38-8 K/BB ratio. He's part of the future along with Brooks/Syversten/Robi

Unfortunately the timing sucks because he just went down with a strained ab muscle. So finally, Tom Kromminga gets his well deserved opportunity to pitch in the big leagues for a month.

So we have to tread some water here during May before Walker is really ready to join the big squad in June. (Which is fine anyway because it'll keep him in the minors a bit longer and hold off on that super 2 status)

Dave Shooks' an animal, 9 HR and 25 RBI in the first 19 games for us, the lineup has been really good as expected, Del Rio's batting an insane .418 to go along with DWI defense and the back end of the pen has been dominant.

Big week with Syracuse and Washington coming up. Let's see if we can't keep rolling.

Oh, and I'm sure Ethan Bafford, 2012 DL Stout Slugger winner, will remember how to hit again eventually.

Denver Batter of the Week goes to Antonio Banuelos who also took home the DL Prize. Banuelos hit .545 for the week and is over .400 on the season along with 7 doubles. He started really hot last year and slowly cooled down with the temperature. Hopefully, if the club doesn't free fall like it did in 2012, he will keep up the pace.

Denver Pitcher of the Week goes to Danny Melgoza. Mike already said what needed to be said. But in all seriousness, Melgoza went 2-0 over the week beating the two Pilsner leaders. Danny will always give up long balls but so long as he continues to strike out a batter an inning and keep the walks in check, they should be shots that won't hurt him too bad.

                The Pilsner misses you, Carlos.

I would be 3 games better right now if you were still here.

Very hard week for the Snappers with a 1-6 record against the Pilsner´s lead horses, our record is rubbish and we still playing really bad baseball... If May stills like this, maybe this is the draft to sell our team out and start from the beggining... Let´s see.

3-3 with a couple of close losses to Washington and we take 2 of 3 in Philly. I'll take it because I expect the team to get a little better as the season continues.

Oscar Gaxiola (SP) has played well to start the season. With 4 starts this season, he has a 3.00 ERA, with a 1.22 WHIP and is 3-0. So far he has pitched pretty well and we're proud of how hard he's worked to get back to this point.

We've made a couple of changes to our team to start the 2nd month of play.

--As expected, we brought in free agent infielder David Santoyo on a 1-year contract in an effort beef up our performance against the LHPs that Washington successfully threw out against us last year. As a patient and experienced player, he should fit in well with our current roster well.

--Likely on his way out (one way or another) is 34 year old outfielder, Travis Wallis. I knew I shouldn't have signed him in the first place, but c'est la vie. He is on waivers now on just a 1M contract if anyone would like to give him a go in their park. In his place, we bring Keong Ke (1B/OF) back off waivers and he will actually get a chance to earn his place starting against LHP while playing in right field.

--This upcoming sim also marks the return of 33 year old pitcher, Yoshitaka Tamieke. Tameike was diagnosed with biceps tendinitis in Spring Training and is currently completing a rehab assignment in Annapolis (AAA). We are a bit worried about his control as he was throwing a few more balls than normal but we are confident that he is far enough along in his rehab to bring him back to Baltimore.

Next week, we head back home to host a 10-game home stand vs. Wilmington, Toronto and Pittsburgh.
