Finished up the Spring a solid 15-13. Did have an injury this week. RP Israel Rodriguez hurt his calf and missed the final three weeks of Spring Training. He will probably have a little rust out of the gate, so he might not fill his normal set-up/back-up closer role until he proves himself. I'm not complaining though...everyone is 100% healthy for Opening Day.

Filling out the 25-man roster are two surprises in 1B Edwin Morales and OF Mat Hendrix. Morales turns 34 in May, 58 BLB at bats, all the past three years as a September call-up. In Triple-A, he has proven to be a slugger, especially against LHP. This is probably his last shot at being a contributor on a BLB roster. He currently ranks as the #19 1B on the positional strength page. He will get a few starts vs. LHSP, but mainly just pinch hit. In Hendrix, quite the opposite. He turned 22 in September and was a surprise playoff roster addition for his defensive/speed. My scout has him just 3-4-2-4-3 with the bat, but he's 8-7-7 on speed, switch hits and can be a huge defensive replacement in RF for DJ Nelson.

My owner expects us to repeat despite our huge talent loss this off-season and financial issues. I think we should compete in the new Stout and if 2012 proved anything, who knows what can happen once you are in the dance.

Finished the spring with the best record at 20-8....doesn't mean anything but reminds me of a good story-

My boss and the other guys he works with are spring training vets, they've worked the spring and know how mundane it can be, one year they had a friend of theirs who had recently retired join them in the spring...the first game they go out to play and the new guy asks them "doesn't the manager give them a pep talk or anything"....because they had led him to believe that the team who wins the spring, everyone gets brand new flat screen TVs as their trophy! They had him believing that the entire spring haha.

Anyway, excited for the season to start, and ready for an extremely competitive Pilsner division!
