5-2 week. Don't make up any ground on WAS and gain a game on BAT. Important 3 game set vs BAL this week. We managed to score some runs this week, but our SP are inconsistent. I never really know what kind of performance we'll get from this group.

Arnholt had a nice debut - 6 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 6 K and a walk. Evers blew the save, otherwise a nice debut for the youngster.

We're going to claw our way to the playoffs.

Pawtucket down to 5 games off the pace in the Ale. At this rate we might catch the top two by December?

Either way, does feel as if were playing good ball the 2nd half of the season as we've paced Pitt & Maine pretty much this whole half.

We have as good as a chance as anybody come playoff time and especially if we can get past that one game playoff. Just think a few seasons ago we'd be on the outside looking in.

                  5-2 week: 3-1 @ Wilmington, 2-1 vs. Los Alamos.

Don't gain any ground in the Stout but gain a game on Baltimore for the #2 seed. Lowering his league leading ERA down to 2.08, SP Troy Martin pitched another gem: 8 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K in a 5-0 win vs. Los Alamos. Rookie SP Tom "Rascal" Garton debuted this week: 8 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 K in a 1-2 CG Loss @ Wilmington. He isn't post-season eligible but will continue to get a few more starts to further his development as a 25-year-old.

In other news, SP Ernie Fields, also a 25-year-old making his BLB debut in September, was awarded the 2012 Triple-A BCC Outstanding Pitcher Award after posting: 14-4, 2.56 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 5.2 WAR. He is expected to make his first BLB start this week. The Triple-A BCC Outstanding Hitter Award is yet to be announced but we are hopeful 1B Dave DeWoody will be in the running after leading Triple-A in Home Runs.

Coming up is a very tough stretch of games the rest of the way, this week: 3 vs. California, 3 @ Baltimore. The Bats are just 2-4 against the Kodiaks this season, their 2nd worst head-to-heard record for 2012.

Team trainer, Hle Alou and his staff are doing a great job with Chiba's recovery so far.

He should be able to get in a full week of reps before the playoffs.

Well 6-1 week... A little bit late but I take it, plenty players pitching and batting right now. I like that.

Unfortunately Indy doesn't release the accelerator pedal and we only cut down 2 games their advantage. However we paved e

So...I guess it's in the best interest for Pawtucket that Maine and Pitt finish the regular season tied? This would mean our wildcard opponent also the 1 seed winner would play an extra game before.

Am I wrong with this thinking?

4-3 as we come out of the frontend of "The Gauntlet" relatively unscathed. We split a 4 -game series in Batavia and then beat up the champs in 2 of 3 in their own house.

As expected, two of the four in Batavia went into extras where we won one and lost the other. In the first game of the series, Oscar Gaxiola(SP) pitched well again giving up just 2 ER (both home runs) in 8 IP with 4 K and 2 BB. Tyler Byers (RP) was uncharacteristically shaky late in the 10th giving up a game winning RBI double to Batavia's 29 year old rookie, Dave Pillow (OF). Despite the loss, I'm really happy with how Gaxiola has turned it around in Baltimore. He has just a 1.03 ERA and 1.03 WHIP through 26.1 IP and an ERA+ of 384! He has definitely earned his chance to stay with the team through the rest of the season and may even a chance to fight for a starting role next year.

Abraham Santana (C) picked up his 2nd IL POW Award of 2012 went 12/23 with 3 home runs (1 in every game against Carolina) and 9 RBI. Santana had a pretty quiet July and August , so it is nice to see him getting back into a groove at the right time to help us earn our first Porter crown since 2008. Picking up Jimmy Scherer has been a such a relief to allow Santana to take a day or two off every week and not feel like we are completely hamstringing ourselves offensively.

Next week, we head to play two teams in the division we may very likely be moving (back) to next year. In the Nevada heat, we get ready face off against the Scorpions and then hop a quick flight back home to host the Bats for a week that has huge playoff, and Stout crown implications.

I'm looking for a 4-2 week, but I'd be happy with just 3-3.
