It's water finding its level a bit. You might be better perhaps, but starting 0-6 was nuts (7-3 since)

5-1 and we got the week that we wanted to get the aforementioned cushion for the tour of potential playoff contenders we have coming up.

Yet again, we get beaned by another fellow Porter member. This time, Terumoto Chiba (1B) gets sent back on the DL for 3-4 weeks after having his hand fractured by 37 year old Kodiak pitcher, Alex Mejia (SP). Chiba was only able to play 34 games but seemed to just be starting to get back to form with a .330/.367/.530 stat line and 148 OPS+. He should be back in time for the playoffs, but do you start a guy who just took ANOTHER month off for injury against the best teams in the IL?

I guess Tara Tanaka (OF) just needed to get demoted to get his ass in gear. We demoted him a couple of weeks back because of a .062 batting average in his last 20 or so games. This week he played in Chiba's place going 8/19 with 2 HR and 8 RBI.

Todd Taylor (SP) pitched another gem. This time 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K in 8 IP. He now has 17 wins and a chance to set a new record for wins by a pitcher in Baltimore. The record is 18 set 8 different times by 6 different pitchers (3 times by Tim Nathan).

We now get ready to go through the gauntlet against the IL's best teams starting with 4@Batavia and 3@Carolina. I'd be happy with 3-4.

I'm worried Chiba is gonna be fragile soon.

I don't doubt it. These last 2 years have been a nightmare for him.

May just be time for a change of scenery for him. ;)

Oscar Gaxiola has over 17 IP in relief with 0 earned runs and 0 HR allowed in PHILLIPS FIELD.

We will reward his good behavior with a start against Batavia this week.

I'd like to take this moment to remind everyone I've been driving the "Chiba will be totally fine after this injury" bus.

I was super frustrated with last season. Glad I listened to all of you who had cooler heads.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, I believe we are the first team to unseat the Tobs from that #1 Ranking all season.

                            A chink in one's armor?
