On one hand, I think, "Great! We went 4-2, swept Death Valley, and pulled within a half game of Pittsburgh."

On the other hand, my reaction is, "Every game counts and we lost two of three at Morgantown."

But then, Morgantown is just below .500 and road games are road games.

It was a good week. Washington and Wilmington next week—both series in Maine.

Then the calendar flips over to September. 13 of our remaining games are against the teams with the three worst records in the DL—New Orleans, New York, and Hartford. Eyeballing it, our road to the finish line looks a little easier than Pittsburgh's, which gives me hope because the last month is a grind and a sprint.

Swept by MAI which was to be expected. Our chemistry and morale is all messed up. My guess is because of that dumb storyline about the field. Hopefully it's not coded to destroy a whole season and goes away at the calendar flip.

We come back and get 2 of 3 from PIT to save our week. Hopefully the Ale can slow down the WAS train next week.

We ship out an irate Melgoza for 2 promising young pitchers. I really need Tom Bell to pull his shit together down the stretch.

Oscar Gaxiola threw 8 innings, 0 ER, 10 K, 3 BB in our only win over Dallas.

Since being in Baltimore, he hasn't given up an earned run in 13 2/3 IP.

Eh, a little. Nakashima wasn't great in his swan song as closer, and that didn't help. But we're 6th in the DL in BP ERA, I think the -13 PYT is more bad luck than anything.
