3-3 week moves us into first place by a half a game.

Jarrod Syversten makes his BLB debut in fantastic fashion going 8 strong innings of scoreless baseball before handing the ball over to Tubby for his first career win. Excited for him to be part of our future.

3 vs Syracuse and 4 vs Denver to finish off the 10 game homestand. Our clubbies will be happy when Denver leaves because they say that they're the worst tipping team in the game today.

This poor guy. I finally decided he deserved a called up then he gets hurt for 6-7 weeks. Anyway, 25 game hitting streak is cool on any level:

25 Games in a Row for Cruz

                  Friday, May 25th, 2012
Danny Cruz ran his hitting streak to 25 straight games today at Submarines Ballpark, when he collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats.

"Hey, the streak is great. I hope it never ends. But I'm not happy when we lose the game," was his comment after Lynn was beaten 5-4 by the Fort Wayne Komets.

"The scoreboard tells the whole story."
Danny Cruz singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, struck out in the 7th and struck out in the 9th.

This season Cruz is batting .390 with 3 home runs. His totals include 16 RBIs and 27 runs scored.

My A-ball is so bad, so awful.

The saddest part isn't the 12-34 record but that I've actually been trying very hard to put a winning team together.

Apparently I can build a good BLB club but not a good A-ball one.

Its so hard to get a consistent A ball team. Just so young and if any guy develops at a quick rate off to AA they go.

Rocha reminds me a lot of Curt Goodwin. A guy with great ratings who I thought would help me turn the corner in 1992 when I signed him to a 5 year $46m deal as a FA. He wound up being a 3 year back of the rotation starter with a 4+ ERA before I flipped his albatross contract and $5m for Raul Guzman from FC in 1995 and really began my turnaround with Guzman.

I'm not saying that Rocha is Curt Goodwin, he just popped into my mind while I was looking at some guys who were traded this season and how both sides were making out. There's plenty of time for Rocha to anchor that rotation - or at least I hope he does for you. 3 1sts (two in the Top 15) and Syvertson was a steep price for him not to be.

As I was typing this out, I thought of Tony Wences too.

He's eerily similar to Goodwin. The year I signed Wences in 2004 (6 years $46.5m) I thought of him as a #2 joining a 69 win team that could begin to make a jump. The next season we did, and he was a big part of it with a sub 4.00 ERA, but I don't think he was as good as his ratings suggested from my scout. Ironically, I shed his contract to FC (yet again) for a 1st rounder that turned into Dave Perkins, who then turned into Hector Gutierrez.

Anyway, just one of those posts you think of when you're browsing through all the BLB stuff. I wish I had more time to do it.

Yeah, that's the thing. The guys who stick are underachievers, if not bad.

The problem is it ends up with everyone on the team pissed off because the team never wins, which can't help development.

Do you think bad moral effects development or is it a smoke screen?? Last 4-5 years we've had some pretty good players fly thru A and Lowell sucked for the past decade and didn't seem to matter. Jistic had a prospect jaugernuat yet his A had very poor seasons. Carolina use to not even field a team, yet he's been on of the top systems forever.

Just an opinion, I think when PD was added a few versions ago changed alot of how kids develop. Again, just an opinion.

                                Yes.

                                Sort of.

1.) Do I believe bad morale directly impacts whether a player's ratings/potentials go up or down?

Well, maybe. I'm not sure. ˇ

2.) Do I believe pissed off players tend to perform worse than happy players?

                                Yes. Definitely.

If guys play worse, it hurts their development. Maybe it doesn't show up in the ratings right away, but it means they're more likely to be 22 year olds struggling at A-ball than 21 year olds playing okay at AA-ball.

And 22 year olds struggling at A-ball tend to get released and not land another contract.

Yes, I'd prefer my players to be happy.
