SP Jonathon Burns comes over at just $1.2m and will be converted to a CL and act as insurance at the bottom of our rotation.
I see you promised Salazar the closer role in his contract. Should be an interesting year if you can't find someone to take RJ Manning off the books. But man, what a career for Salazar. He won't get into the Hall of Fame because he spent majority of his career as a set-up man but he is one of the very best relievers to play in the BLB: 2.86 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, 154 ERA+, 26.7 WAR over a 20 year BLB career (and counting).

I'm also a fan of your signing of Jonathan Burns. He expects bullpen now and should make a nice transition but if needed he can definitely still start. He will find a role.

However, I don't know how well Villareal will hit in your park. Your factors (.950 AVG, .910 HR) for RHs is going to be tough on a career .233 hitter who continued to find work because of his pop. However, his defense combined with Sherrod should definitely save a bunch of runs.

Should be a fun year in the Stout. Good luck with the rest of your off-season.

I love the signing. Fits well with that young nucleus of hitters in Syracuse. I don't think you pay the guy $16M and play him in Triple-A.

Manning is about 75% out the door. There's a few teams interested, and while I might have to sell a bit low, my plan is to move him along.

I'm going with a Closer by committee. Salazar and Gruell will CL and SU and Melgoza will SU and CL. Tom Bell will return to the rotation if these Coma talks progress. He was very good there early. If Coma stays, then I'll keep Bell as a SU and have a formidable 4 man bullpen with a bridge of Marrujo and Burns.

This pitching staff is one of the most flexible I've ever had. We have a weakness in CF, but I do have a temporary solution in Godinez. We lack a true HR threat at the heart of our order but I expect my young hitters to continue to progress giving us a stronger line-up. After trading away our SS of the future, I'm content to keep defense at the position. Ingle played there last year and wasn't great. I'll trade the little bit of offense lost for the defense gained for my GB heavy rotation.

Money should never dictate a players development. My scout says he's not ready. No salary in the world is going to change that and YES you can ruin players that way.

IMO, unless he hits .200 in Spring Training, he becomes Syracuse everyday CF (or 2B) and wins the DL Refreshing New Brew.

Sounds fishy...kinda sounds like you know that you have to play Syracuse multiple times this year and you want them to keep a guy in the minors because he might be good against you!

Might be right on that. This might end up the DL's weakest class in years taking a guess of who may or may not come up.

Wait...1B Pat Powell is gonna win it. Nevermind.

Lol....ummm no. Besides CF Mason pretty much offsets him I think. I guess I'm being a ratings whore on this one due to lack of stats.

4-4-4-5-5 with POT of 5-5-5-5-5. He needs to see some at bats against inferior pitching since he's rather dumb and a little lazy. I can see him batting .160 and getting depressed.

OSA has him 4-5-5-5-5 with 5-6-6-6-6 potential. My scout has him 4/5/5/5/5 with 5/5/5/6/6 potential. Both OSA and my scout have his current vs. RHP 4/5/5/5/5. I wouldn't be surprised to see his current ratings take a jump after Spring Training.

He's a switch-hitter who will get a favorable matchup every time at the plate. I also think that a player with very low work ethic, with those ratings, that salary, and no one really blocking him at CF/2B at the BLB level, he might NOT respond well to being in Triple-A. "Chutz has the tendency to become complacent." I'm sure if you place him in Triple-A his expectation will be to play in the majors and his morale will soon sour.

                    Roman, you like working hard?

                    "Eh, I'd rather watch TV."

                    Roman, take this IQ test.

                    Chutz scores a 72.

Roman, how do you feel about winning?

"Meh. It doesn't really matter to me."

I know a guy named Roman.

I send an email to his boss everytime we are working with him. His boss sends that email to Roman.

Roman never seems to know we are showing up.

                            1. For the love of god clown, it's Pat Howell. Get his name right one time.

                            2. Bold statement. Dave Shook and Jimmy Peller disagree.

I'm a big intangibles guy so I don't think Chutz is the second coming or anything.

I just saw an opportunity for value. My scout doesn't like him as much as OSA does, but he does rave about him in the text description, which led me to believe he'd be high up on the prospects list. I'd pay the contract again for essentially a guy that would have been a top 5 pick in the last 5 or 6 drafts, except for last year.

If Estes wanted a similar number that Chutz got, I'd have Estes at the moment.
