Couldn't lock up Crook or Stolarik. Another lesson in not trading picks for players.

      One day I'll learn.

Arbitration went well. We have a nice chunk of change to use for veteran help and to extend all our arbitration eligible guys. Also signed my scout and all my coaching positions are filled.

Now, who wants Manning, English and Perkins...

My scout sees 3 guys who could help. Only one hitter though and pitchers are serviceable but no way stars. Still, nice boost to a very weak FA class.

            Huge sim in Washington.

-Added Bao "Big Stick" Cahn to manage the club. If you aren't familiar with Cahn, he's just 47 years old and won the 2011 Brewmasters after being let go by Carolina after the past 11 seasons. There were better rated manager options at coaching but they were all very old and I'm tired of managers retiring the past few years. Cahn takes is legendary at handling players and hopefully he commands the respect of a locker room that had multiple altercations last year.

-Re-signed Pat Ladd (3-year, $15M, TO), Alex Otero ($7-8M for 4-year, TO) and Dusty Casserino (3-year, $1.3M, TO) to far below their team options and arbitration estimates. Ladd is now guaranteed at $30M the next two seasons so keeping him healthy will be key but I'm glad to have the hometown fan favorite back in the fold for at least two more seasons.

-Let a small handful of players walk in Free-Agency including MR Tony Perez and long-time Bats utility Victor Sandoval. Perez wanted too much to return and still preferred to be a closer. Sandoval was starting to show decline.

-Brought back Diego Flores and Antonio Cardenas on their final years of team options. Both are on the trade block but could get extensions if they post sold 2012 years.

-And the Lippert deal. That trade alone takes my rotation from 17th in the BLB to 7th overall. Moving Duffy and Martin out of the shared ace role and into #2/#3 slots, really improves my team. Behind them, I expect strides from last years rookies in Jimmy Razza and Tony Osorio. In the sixth hole, initially will be Tyler Salzman who after a rough first half proved he can be a back-end starter. Waiting in the wings in Triple-A is my #1 pitching prospect Tom "Rascal" Garton, who will be up by seasons end.

-And now we wait...Over budget projection for 2012. I do have a few players on the trade block but with FA starting, I don't expect offers until maybe Spring Training. Best of luck to the teams with money.
