A No-hitter in Carolina as Edgar Mejia faced only 27 batters but walked one of them in the 1st to spoil a perfect game. 12Ks and 1BB. Thank you Windy City.

Pawtucket 4-2 on the road against the Stout's finest.

I guess thats cool, but need to go on a rant. So Washington had a .380 winning % against lefty pitching so we pit Washington with SP Talley (Righty) SP Joey Simpson(Lefty) & SP Victor Lemus(Lefty) and what happens? Talley throws a gem, my 2 lefties get chased out of the game early and we lose 2 out of 3 to (sorry Pat) an inferior team. Then next series we travel to DV and sweep allowing just 3 runs in one game. This time Joey Simpson throws for 7 innings and 3 hits. Whatever.

Summary, sometimes splits are not your friend.

Had a strong feeling we'd be .500 or worse after this sim. Not good.

We are pitching better. Playing better defense. Still scoring runs. Just can't seem to put it all together at the same time.

Look at this run away train. 16-8 this month. 5-1 this sim including a sweep of those over rated pretty boys from LA.

8 1/2 back from the wild card. Look out! Time to teach those pesky Tobs a lesson next.

A 4-2 week for the Brawlers. Took 3 from New Orleans and then lost 2 one run games to New York before taking the finale. Jimmy Nash had a 2 HR game with 6 RBI to brag about this week. Still lost ground to Carolina so the division race is probably out of reach now but we should be able to hold on to the wild card spot (he says with fingers crossed).

Guides Allow Aten to Attend Birth of Child

                    Saturday, August 27th, 2011
Robby Aten has a pretty good reason to miss a game: the birth of his child. Aten left early this morning to return home to be with his expecting wife. "I talked to him a little while ago", commented Guides manager Andrew MacGilledon. "He was as excited as a new father can be." Aten is expected back in uniform in a couple of days.

Well that was nice of Z. I'd make the dumbass pitch the next day.

Well, we are ready for August to be behind us. No real momentum all month long, 13-12 record so far. You'd hope for a bit better with a team ERA of 3.22 for the month. The offense has been sputtering a bit with Andy Garcia, Roberto Goto and Tom Griffiths all posting sub .600 OPS for the entire month. Griffiths has actually lost his 3B job to vet Dave Farmer against RHP at this point (Farmer in limited action posted .391 | .440 | .435 so far in August). We hope the calendar flip turns things around and we can get on a roll heading into the playoffs.

I wish my roster would tell me their wives are having children. It would at least explain why they haven't shown up.

All of a sudden we are good again. Playing our way into mediocrity and a mediocre draft pick another year.
