    I guess.

They're good players to be sure.

I hesitate to reward those types of moves in GM of the Year voting because I don't consider it a huge skill to trade all your first and second round picks for good players.

It's relatively easy to trade high draft picks and prospects for good veterans. Anyone in the league could do it. Whether it's a smart trade or not depends on context and hindsight, which we don't have yet. I consider it a more important skill to nail value trades.

Of course any GM can improve their team by trading picks and prospects for veterans, but that's not all Sully did to improve this year. Remember, Dallas also traded Antonio Banuelos to Denver for a 1st and a 3rd. And I'm more impressed by the under the radar signings of Roberto Ortega and Travis Neal.

It's more than just transactions as well. The Snappers are on pace for their highest win total in franchise history and their first Pilsner title since 2000. That has to count for something.

Another darkhorse candidate is nelmsm. They are on pace for their first Bock title since 1995. He had some tough decisions on which stars to re-sign at the end of last season and made a few cheap FA signings.

A 5-2 week for the Brawlers. Pearsall got roughed up in one outing and Schuh lost a 1-0 heartbreaker where we only managed 3 hits in support of his efforts. Good week though as Carolina went 3-3 and we now have a 1.5 game lead for however long it lasts.

A PCL injury to Chiba, durability be damned.

The injuries are just laughable now. Especially since it moved from arm injuries to leg injuries and of course it just happened to be our best OFFENSIVE player this time. I fully expect Todd Taylor and Ruedas to go ahead and join everyone else on the DL.

I would just Funclown the season, but then I'd give him an even better pick.

Hartford block has been posted in anticipation of a deadline deal. Perhaps one of these guys can add depth to your playoff team.

It is the ugly side of the way I build teams.

Nothing in the minors to help you out if you get hit with injuries like this and no solace in the fact that a high pick comes with a season like this. We'll have to tough it out for the remainder of this season and hope we get better rolls of the dice next year.

We go thru "spurts" like this, the last one in 2005 right in the thick of a race. I do like the fact it's random, but usually around age 29 it picks up some.

It's also why with pitchers we tend to stick with pitch counts.

Felipe Vega was our only pitcher this sim. He's looking like an ace for us.

In more pleasant news for the Bulldogs our 2011 2nd round pick Daniel Flores, has been sensational in his first 6 professional starts.

We started him in Orlando (A) and in his first 5 starts down there he went 4-0 with 37 K, 8 ER, 7 BB and just 1 HRA. Insanely dominant at that level and obviously ready for a bigger challenge. So of course, we promoted him last sim.

First outing in Camden (AA): 8.1 IP, 4 K, 0 BB and 1 ER to go with the win.

Yep. Going to have to keep an eye on this kid.

He's on a Baltimore system roster and looks like he might have some talent.

                                He was never safe.
