5-1 sim for the Tobs. Looks like I'll be too far back to make a division title run and should claim one of the WC slots without too much trouble. Might be a boring rest of the season here.

We lose 1-2, 0-2, 0-1, and 1-2 four of our 5 losses for our 1-5 trade deadline week.

Crudge goes 7 innings 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K only to watch Ybarra blow the game.

I think we'll look better next year.

The timing, however, was a bit confusing to me. He turns 32 in three weeks and your team is six games under .500. I do agree that there is a good chance your team should be better next year...but how much better? Philadelphia is young and one of the best teams in baseball. Baltimore is probably a borderline WC contender with or without Crudge next season.

Crudge is still a really good player, however. I've had discussions for him with each of the past three New Orleans GMs but never pulled the trigger. Skerik when he was in charge wanted a king's ransom and with the last two GMs, I didn't want to face the wraith that I would get on the forums I were to trade for the ace of a new owner.

I do think you "won" the trade, however. Crudge is a borderline ace and despite giving up a lot of pieces to get him, none are that valuable. A late 2nd, a mid 3rd, a MR prospect and the best prospect, #70 overall SP Ian Phelan, who is "fragile" who missed almost all of 2008 and 2009 due to injuries. You also dumped Angelo Sanchez's $4.5M salary and got $4.5M cash in return.

I was probably the "other" owner Rob was talking to. He could of helped, but in the end just decided the money part wasn't worth it.

Think we are good with what we have, but would of been nice having him sit at 3 or 4.

I think this makes Baltimore a .500 team.

                Smart move by Rob though.

Crudge is a good player but I'm sure that's the best offer he got...and with the deadline looming, sometimes you gotta pull the trigger.

Helps in the race for the #1 pick too.

                  I meant in the IL.

Park factors + DH, no IL team should be #1.

We're happy to see July come to an end. 5-2 final week to bring us back to 1 game under .500 for the month. Seemed like a month full of coin flip losses, but hopefully that's our one bad month in the schedule. Bullpen is up to 4th in ERA, but we're one injury away from being really shorthanded in that dept. I don't know where we'd be without the decision to put Tom Stolarik in the bullpen from the beginning of the year. He's way overpaid for that role, but those $$ were sunk long ago and it's a spot where we needed an anchor all season. Thankfully, he's been that.

Damn, -7 in Pythagorean record? Still holding out hope but less optimistic going into the final two months

I'm sure you can optimistic about a team 15 games below .500 Pythagorean record or not.

We went 1-5 this week to go to six games under .500. Taylor, Matoon and a rejuvenated Crudge seem like a decent enough top of the rotation. We had a complete power outage offensively but we also faced some the best pitchers in the IL last week and did well enough. We only go as far as Chiba goes and if he hits less than .200 on the week it is probably not going to be a good thing for us.

If we are not good enough, it is what it is.

it will pay dividends next season. sometimes you don't feel the affect of a trade til the next season (See CF Tony Cavazos)

I think your .500 this season. Not with the big clubs in the IL anymore, but next season I'm sure you'll make more moves.
