2010 Regular Season SIM 14 Complete - Next SIM THU 02/19
4-2 heading into the break tied for first. Ingle going down stings after his All - Star First half, but Salas will get consistent AB's while he's down.
Thomas, Rodriguez, Tubby, Bafford, Henne, Ingle were all stars, and I feel that D'Orio's worthy of an ASG berth but he plays in a hitters park so it's fair to punish him for his success.
We just can't pitch. Our SP had been the strength of our team during our run and they are 11th in the IL. Just a horrible year. We fired our bench coach and promoted a minor league guy. Still in the WC hunt, maybe we can be a team of two halves.
I always think of the bench coach as the managers drinking buddy.

I thought maybe we would give you a run for your money in that short series but you guys killed us.

4 game road series always scare the hell out me especially in your park. Glad we split. We were even cocky enough not to roll out a starter for one game.
Time for some Allstar rest then welcome Bdub and his Hartford boys to Pawtucket for a nice 4 game set. Not sure who to root for in the Maine/ Pitt series.

Schiefelbein makes his first All-Star game in his first full season. Considering some trade talks I had in the off-season, seeing him perform well makes it easier to consider I made the right choice in holding onto him. He's become our team ace with Tameike gone and is sporting a very sexy 0.99 WHIP with just 16 walks in 121 IP. I had some concerns about his ability to strike hitters out with his pedestrian 90 MPH heater, but his changeup is devastating enough for a 7.18 K/9. You can't hate that from a guy that is basically Jamie Moyer out there.
Ron Robertson just had his second consecutive double-digit strikeout game and is improving as the season progresses. He was another name in trade talks and though he isn't exactly performing as well as some potential pieces he would have been traded for, I think he's showing he can get there soon. 1.16 WHIP. 105:23 K:BB in 93.2 IP. Only 23-years-old. I like it very much.
McPherson makes a third straight ASG. And Henry Rodrigues makes his second.
I don't feel we had any snubs, though I wish Perkins had been healthy long enough to qualify for the batting race and perhaps make a push for a ASG nod.
Colin Reed is killing the ball. Obviously playing better at home but his road splits are making him look like 2003 All-Star Colin Reed as well. Very happy I decided to spend less on him to play 3B than going after Zamora (who to be fair, should not be a 3B and is a much better 1B for Maine than he would have been a 3B for Denver).
Also want to give a shout out to my bullpen MVP of the first half. Mr. Dave Weitz won the 2000 and 2001 NCAA Outstanding Pitcher Award while in USC, once having a 20 strikeout game. He was selected in the 2nd round by Los Lunas (now Toronto) in 2003 and made his BLB debut that very same season. And then he never made it back.
For whatever reason, he stumbled around in the minors for the Los Lunas/Toronto franchise before eventually being traded to Pittsburgh and being picked up off waivers by Denver in 2008. By 2009 he became a dominant relief pitcher in AAA Tucson with a blazing 100 mph fastball and knee-buckling curve.
We rewarded him with a promotion in September of that year and then a permanent spot in the pen this season. He has rewarded us in return with 61 K in 42.2 IP (12.9 K/9) in 29 appearances as a set-up arm. I don't know the story with his time in the minors, but sure glad I spotted him. He has become what I hoped Troy Loew would be with a great heater but little else (and I'm going to promote Loew to see if maybe he has some Weitz magic in him).

My tip-get rid of Ron Malone. I saw that you were starting him against us and I felt confident that we'd get that W. I think he's the worst pitcher in the history of this game (Obiv I don't know the full history of this league so please nobody get on their high horse and send links of players worse. Figure of speech.)

It's amazing how bad he is given his ratings and the fact that he was selected 5th overall. Yikes.

Well need to take care of our business obviously at home, but really I don't know which team. lol, your both play contenders whether its division or wildcard.
Also just a heads up, no team in the DL has made the Brewmaster finals as a #1 seed since 1999. (LA Dino's)
Just a something to think about it.
