I can't remember the last time we weren't top 10 in payroll.

        This feels weird.

Going to have serious competition this spring training:

Catcher Keep forgetting Todd R is only 25 and just won a DWI award last season. He's up against Dave now. Going to have to figure out something , but it's a good problem to have.

5th starter. Not so good here. Battle between veteran Alex Martinez/ Tom Farris wild card being Troy Donavon? Alex had a nice season as did rookie Tom Farris. I can't honestly say who's gonna get this spot.

Back of the bullpen. We feel really good about our closer / setup roles but with Rule V Lefty Trent Mccleary taking up a mop up spot one or two of last years players will end up in AAA. Be interesting how this plays out.

Back up OF think Ron Harward ends up starting, but who gets the at bat against Lefties . El Ruiz or Tommy Van Leer? Who is our back up CF with the over/under for Tony is 100 games without injury. Like Tommy to polish a bit longer in AAA so look for Pawtucket to make deal for another OF.

Thinking our current farm rating is the high water mark. The time is now for as many as 5 players in that top 100. Tried to surround these guys with some amount of veterans that know how to play.

It's been fun building, but now comes the headaches.

Offensively (minus Wessel) we are probably going to trot out the same players.

We have a couple of young guys who were only on the 40 man so they wouldn't get poached, but now I'm going to give them a chance to see if they are ready for The Show like they claim to be.

Particularly, we are looking at TP #41, Tom Franks (SS). Defensively, I'm sure he can cut it but offensively, that remains to be seen. He's getting his chance as the first choice shortstop, so you better show me something kid.

On the mound, we are pretty much going to throw everything on the wall and see what sticks. Its a mix of Rule V yet to be's, has been's and never was's so I don't expect much. The predictions have us at 91 wins but without some major tinkering, I'm not sure that we make it to .500 this year.

                There's a thread for that.

Guides' shortstop prospect Chris Lerma is now ranked #65 on the Top Prospects list, even though whenever I bring up his name in a trade discussion, the other owner reacts as if I asked him to wipe my ass.

Regardless, once again, Lerma is the #65 prospect, an outstanding defensive shortstop and baserunner, and is available. See my trade block for more details.

He doesn't show up on the block I'm looking at.
