Stop hoarding talent and promote them!

        Agreed.

It's either a "gotcha" or let's draft a 22 year old who has a POT of 5-7-5 and actual of 4-6-3 in AA and NO WHERE near ready for the BLB which is unrealistic.

I mostly use it for bullpen help in general. I'm guilty of the "gotcha'" but in every case (Matt, Jimmy, Delandis) I either avoided or traded back.

Find a replacement path for these 26-29 year olds to not sit and rot in people's minors and get a chance in the league, and I'll vote for it to go.

Independent league though would mean they are no longer on your roster and playing somewhere else no?

Think the thought goes they would rather want a major league contract (be it far less money then the BLB) then playing with a minor league contract?

Do we know if a rookie league would speed their development?

I assume it would be that doesn't really change anything with people letting players sit in the minors for life.

I was just thinking that with faster development, players would demand more money earlier (major league deals) and could force their way into the majors or FA?

                      I could be wrong.

Since the Rule 5 lists will be coming in soon please remember to at least give me a position. Makes it easier when sorting and looking through names.

Also make sure you have room on your 40 man to draft players.

                          Thanks.

An independent league would force the older guys - like 25-33 or so - to look for work elsewhere (and get it) instead of waiting out for a minor league deal they wouldn't actually take if they have talent.

That alone will force teams to forget rounding out their minor league roster with those guys, which forces more young players to be down there and play. And unless those guys get a chance in the BLB, they will opt to get a chance somewhere else (Microbrew Baseball League or something). So if you want to keep those minor league free agents, you need to promote them or trade them to someone that will.

As long as the max salary is low enough, it won't take away great players. But you make it less than the BLB minimum but more than a minor league contract and guys will consider it.
