  • Most Underrated Player

Any thoughts here? Figure this is a worthy topic to discuss...especially for teams/owners that don't have much left to play for. Do you have a player on your team that is underrated? Maybe an All-Timer? Maybe a young player who hasn't yet been noticed?

It might be a product of having an owner who doesn't post a lot...but in my opinion the most underrated player is Davenport's SS Dave Nelson.

He's #9 on the Top Players list but you could make the argument that he is the best player in all of baseball. He's only 27-years-old but he already has two BLB DWIs at SS, four All-Star appearances and despite playing in a pitchers park, his past four seasons have been amazing.

The guy just gets no love around here....but he might if the Brawlers make the playoffs this year for the second time since 1995.

I agree with Dave Nelson. Easy to forget about him because Davenport doesn't post much and talk about him but I always take a look at him whenever Pat Verba gets hurt or struggles. Thankfully, it seems Verba is finally playing well, but Nelson is a special player.

More of an "underrated career" of a current player.

Tristan Romarigues is the Maine Guides' all-time hits leader and won seven DWIs across three different positions.

He hasn't been player of the week since 2003. Even the media hates him.

I think Ron Wessel is pretty underrated.

Willie Rosales for us. Think he might 'Cracker' the top 20 list next season. Stud at Stanford. Hit for power in A ball. Went to AAA no noticeable change in batting. Is improving every season in the BLB. One of the better double hitters in the league.

I was actually surprised that he sat on your block as long as he did. He leads the IL in triples while playing in Baltimore which is no easy task. 6 time all star, extra base machine, team leader. He's a very valuable player. Probably our team MVP.

Would we say Henry Rodriquez is underrated? The kid is having a monster season.

What about Dani Trujillo in Cali? I remember he was highly coveted when Linty picked him up but it seems like he'll never retire. Best SS of all time?

Looking at some career numbers and I think Tim Nathan and Ezequiel Parangao both had really underrated careers (by virtue of them not being in the HOF). I'm obviously more familiar with Nathan who played the majority of his career in a "sandbox," as our stadium has affectionately been called in the past. I think he got screwed a bit because of the way he pitched to contact.

Wow. I'm really not sure why Parangao didn't make it with the others who were inducted that year. His numbers are comparable to some of the crew that made it.

So sad that they didn't make into the Hall.

Maybe in comparison to McPherson, Perkins, Quinn and Verba. But I think I talk about Rodrigues enough as Denver's best run producer.

I did have him on the block once upon a time ago and no one bit. And that brings me to a thread I wanted to start.

Also I agree on Parangao. Underrated career. I think I also voted for Nathan just based on his steals.
