Make that 99% agree. Switch him to 1B and he should be in the list within 2 sims. Probably why he didn't make the Allstar Game either. The game doesn't respect DH players.

Well if took almost 3 seasons but FINALLY Dave Piekarski takes the #1 prospect in baseball. Kid so reminds me of Deleon with a better glove. Soon we will know.

Speaking of top players and I don't want to insult any owner , but why is the game so infatuated with C Abraham Santana every single season? This even goes back to when he was a prospect.

Is he good...sure. Above average...yeah but the #1 player in baseball for parts of the last two seasons with those stats?????

I get New York is a tough place to hit in, but come on! Even his splits don't justify it.

I think he's pretty damn impressive, personally.

This year he has battled injuries. Missed four weeks with a hammy, two weeks with a quad and three more weeks with his back. But still has a .854 OPS and 142 OPS+! Last year in just 120 games, he hit 25 homers with 85 walks! In 2007, in 143 games, he hit 31 homers and 100 walks!

New York isn't just a tough place to hit...it's the toughest. Think about how many more HRs Santana would be hitting if he didn't play in New York (.830 HR factor) but in Baltimore (1.190)! If he was playing in Baltimore, and was in the lineup for 150+ games, he'd be battling TJ Dunn for the HR crown every year.

Oh and I did I mention that Santana might be the best defensive catcher in baseball?

Santana is a stupendous defensive catcher (important) who OPSes .900 or better in New York. That's pretty awesome.

Switched to 1B and exported. Let's see what it says next SIM. His National Popularity is also "Fair".

Maybe he's getting lost up in Canada.

I guess I see a guy like JJ Chaplan it makes a bit more sense.

He's only OPS'd .900 once in his career I think, but I do sort of get the whole New York is some midevil pitchers park where people enjoy 2-1 run ball games. I just think there are better out there thats all.

Santana is impressive but he needs to stop bumping McPherson down. That's why I don't like him.

But in all seriousness, injuries have taken away what is a great player. I respect OOTP for understanding this.

The last guy I got is CF Gil Tipp. He's out 8 months. He's 22. My scout has him 4-4-2-4-4 potential, 6-6-5 defense and 8-8-6 speed. In 110 career Single-A games he's hitting .276 with 24 stolen bases.

He's a long shot sure, but I'll see what my medical staff can do.
                    Good get.

I understand how some guys might feel a player isn't performing as they expected and so they decide to drop them but my thing is, you have to replace him.

And unless you're replacing him with a better minor league player, why drop him?

Plus the DL is like a reserved spot. I love it when lesser players (non high prospects) in the minors get hurt. It allows me to fill my team with another guy I want and because players get hurt all the time, it's like you're running a 27 man roster. No one sits in the DL longer than necessary but I can promise you that in 14 days, you'll lose another player to injury or a day to day.

Heck I send day to days to the injured list just so I can keep the players coming off the DL.

                    My two cents.

But I agree with you. That's definitely the plus side to players getting hurt. Replacements!
