We went 5-2, but Pittsburgh went 6-1, so we fall a game back in the Ale.

It's like the days of old in this division.

6-1 sim. 15-7 in May, open a 3.5 game lead on WAS after that .500 opening month.

We go back to a 5-man rotation and put Marrujo in the bullpen.

We withdrew our offer to Spoon. There was no way we could fit his salary once it ballooned to $6.7m/year, so he's off to make his last stand at Los Alamos with his fellow mercenaries.

Spoon to the Amigos means Tom Bell will continue to be our set-up man for the foreseeable future with a 1.77 ERA in 20 appearances. My scout has him as a possible ace, which I think is generous, though I see him as a solid #3 who will give you about 6.0 IP and outing with his low stamina. Maybe next season.

Colin Cash returns, giving us a nice boost in the middle of our line-up as the calendar changes.

On the farm, Travis Anthony continues to show his vast potential hitting .349/.429/.589, 7 homers, 26 RBIs, 14:21 K:BB, and 5 SBs.

Add in C Dave Richardson's .324/.360/.519, with 4 homers, and 21 RBIs, and 1B Antonio Banuelos' .293/.335./.494, 4 HRs, and 30 RBIs and there are still some important pieces left and working their way through our system.

We get CAL at home for a 4 game set and then 3 at BAT.

So Syracuse has a left handed hitter named Ethan Stuart who came into left-handed friendly Rocky Top and kind of made it his own. 17 Home runs for the young man. Not bad.

5-2 week. We swept Dallas 4-0 and then ran into Ethan Stuart's power display and lost 2 of 3 to Syracuse.

All in all, it was a good week especially since we didn't throw Tamieke. Vleugel came in and did a nice job picking up a win striking out 8 and giving up just two runs in 7 innings of work.

Melgoza another solid two starts. 1-0, just three runs in 13 innings. Gaxiola with his fourth 8 inning, 1 one run start in his last five starts (he gave up 2 runs in 7 innings in the other start). Hoffman with a good month and old man Garcia with an up and down performance.

Offensively, we are really rolling. I don't know if I should expect this to continue but I guess it helps when you have basically a full lineup of really good hitters. If one or two slump, you still have 6 or 7 guys who can hit. It's helped us grab a 30 run lead over the next closest DL team. We have 114 doubles to Pittsburgh's 84 and two times the stolen bases.

The only teams more impressive are Baltimore and Batavia, doing it with 8 hitters rather than 9.

Among batting leaders, the top four are Denver hitters. McPherson is batting .380. A poor May for Perales is helping Rodrigues and McPherson separate themselves from the pack a bit. But it's only going to be June. Still time for slumps which neither have had yet.

            2-1 vs. Windy City
            1-2 vs. Seattle

Continue to lose ground in the Stout. Yawn.

Well at least the WC race should be interesting in the IL this year. No clear cut leader there.

5-1 for our 2nd winning sim of the season.

I picked up former Bulldog star Danny Rodriquez, veteran hurler, Troy Clark and promoted former Syracuse minor leaguer, Bob Vera to try to bring some stability to our shaky bullpen.

Very interested in bullpen help, preferably a dominant lefty. If you have someone you want to move, give us a call.

Interesting note Pat pointed out to me I wanted to post for full disclosure.

Few years back when I resigned Jody Richards, I gave him two vesting years. One of them I must have mistakenly entered as plate appearances instead of innings, which would be kind of BS.

But... it looks like it was for this year (the 5th contract year). In game, it's showing next year based on IP.

Either way... if it needs to be fixed, by all means!

Pawtucket 2-4. 2/3 rds thru our road trip. Eh, not much to do except let young kids grow and wait for reinforcements.

Morales falls off the top 100, but we still hold the 1 system be it barely. Think Washington might even pass us briefly until McDade debuts.

SP Talley making his case for a mid season call up.

I know it's not showing in the won- loss record, but starting to feel good about some of the pieces already in place. Just takes time.

                        Obviously an honest mistake IMO.

I don't think it needs to be changed but something to maybe write up in the rules for following seasons.

Pitchers can't have vesting options based on plate appearances.
Hitters can't have vesting options based on innings pitched.

Someone post it. Should be unanimous.
