    - FA is officially open.
    - Last SIM to protect players for the Rule 5 draft.
    - Check all trades.
    - Send your Rule 5 lists to me.
    - Watch your DFA's.

Denver I had to move a player off your 40 man otherwise I would have had to cut Vluegal and cost you $26m. Remember...for everyone...if you have a player and their DFA time expires I do the same thing as regular season...if I can they go AAA, AA, A. If they have a contract and can't go to the minors and there is room they go back to the BLB. If all those fail they are released.

That's cool. Didn't know the sim was that many days. I'm just trying to get him off my 40 and send to Aaa. Might need to wait till the season. All good.

We're looking pretty solid right now. We extend Robby English and Colin Cash to very reasonable deals and fan interest hits 100.

The moves bring in Laurent Boutin to add to our rotation and we now have $23m to play with in FA and extensions.

SP Pat "Bumblebee" Tortorici, a 19 year old drafted in the 3rd round, debuts at #71 on the Top Prospects list giving us 8 players. We add Cardenas and Banuelos to our system as well and I expect both to re-crack the Top 100.

      Still looking for a C/1B.

Our rotation least looks respectable now with Wences & Vega in the rotation. Vega's ratings held up after switching him to SP so might be catching a kid entering his prime. SP Andujar moves to #3 now, he basically belongs more near the backend but he will get there. Troy Donaven, Tyler Byers, Tom Osburn & Tom Farris will fight it out for #4 & #5. Talley??? Not yet? I'm sure we will see him this season, but not just yet. Fejardo could probably close and might see some action on the road, but he slides to setup role for now.

Speaking of Andjuar signed as an INT for two years so was curious how two year deals are handled, well this is probably a first:

SP Enrique Andujar received a 1-year contract through automatic renewal worth a total of $12,000,000.

Interesting, don't think I've ever seen that. Lesson learned might as well sign an Intl to longer range contracts since you don't get the 3rd year kicker.

Still lots of work to do on the offense, but with exception of one or two signings expect to fill this internally over the course of the season.

So on to fun stuff, who pays $20mil for 'Shameless'???

Except the English deal is null and void because it violates the rule that you voted for.

            - Players cannot be signed to contract extensions until after they have received their first arbitration contract. Players become eligible for contract extensions once they have "Received a 1-year contract worth a total of $X through arbitration." in their player history.

The rule would go into effect for the 2005 off-season. The reason for this rule is that players, as evidenced by recent contracts, can't properly asses their own value and willing to accept extremely unrealistic extensions before they receive their first arbitration contract.

So what happens now? Is there some way to rewind to arbitration and have him receive a salary via that mechanism?

Whatever. Handle it however. Oh the irony of the loopholer and AI exploiter calling me out. Ill just offer the extension after. It was a simple mistake. Geez.

His arby number was 5.6m I think and the AI default offer was 6.? if that helps anything.

I offered him more in the contract then he requested so figure it out however you want - the extension will be basically the same in the end.

I would think English's number is between $6.5M and $7M, considering Ignacio Alvarez just got $6M. Per the Top Players list, English is significantly better.

They are similar the # range was 5.5-7m. I based the extension on him getting 7m in arby which is usually what someone like him would request... and win.

If you want to give him 7.5m in year 1 go for it. That's the most he would get in arby anyway. I offered him less than he wanted in year 1, the same that he wanted in Year 2, then scaled the rest to get him to the guaranteed amount he wanted. Tacked on the usual 2 Pat TOs and he was good for 8 years.

Want to scale up your salaries Jistic? Didn't think so.

For the first time ever I won every single of my arbitration cases, six of them this year. I also avoided arbitration with CF Manny Reyes and locked him for the next four years, fifth a team option.

Got roughly $30M to throw around in Free-Agency...this should be fun.
