Well, lesson learned. Don't let Perez come into save situations earlier than the 9th. He blew two saves and took losses.

We went 4-2 so that was the difference between sharing Carolina's "Nice!" Image and me being upset with myself over a 4-2 week.

We played the Stout and went 4-2. Lost a couple one-run games to Death Valley.

We were able to avoid Tom Hau's last arbitration year and signed him to a one-year $8.5 million deal.

Now we head to Seattle and Washington for the week.

2-4 week; Bats are .500 with a 62-62 record; 10.5 games back of Wild Card. Not much left to play for...besides respect!

SP Dave Adamson, acquired in the Denver trade, threw a shutout against Pawtucket this week: 9 IP, 9 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K. Sure the Patriots might have the worst lineup in baseball and were playing without their usual DH spot, but hey I'll take it! In his four BLB starts he has been pretty impressive. He's getting a lot of groundballs and strikeouts.

2B Danny Romero is now 4th in the IL in WAR at 5.2. Still just 23-years-old, Romero is on pace for 189 hits, 99 runs, 43 doubles, 7 triples, 10 homers, 61 RBI and 17 stolen bases...While being the best 2B defender in the IL.

OF Bobby Cortes has also been a pleasant surprise recently. Claimed off waivers from Batavia on June 30th, Cortes is hitting .321 in 156 ABs. My scout has his eye and power at a "2" each but his contact and avoid K could make him a valuable piece as a 4th or 5th OF.

Updated the Trade Block if you guys didn't see. It has a lot of players that can be had for mid-round picks and/or marginal prospects. There are a few rental veteran types that won't be on my team next year that could provide depth for your playoff push.

4-2 against two very good Ale teams. Tony Wences is hot, he is available, and just like a super model he will make you look better than you really are.

In Free-Agent news, I signed P Robby O'Neal to 1-year, 2nd year team option at $1.5M per season. My scout thinks he is a back-end starter but with his 68% groundball and plus movement, he might be able to put up respectable numbers in my park. He basically has a six-week tryout for $350K.

I would encourage other teams that are out of the playoff hunt to make similar type signings. There are a handful of guys left in free-agency that still have talent that you can could basically get a free look at to see if they still got it. A quick glance:

C/1B Jamie Richardson - Six straight years as a BLB starter with .730+ OPS, 110+ OPS+, BLB 162 avg: .751 OPS, 26 doubles, 17 homeruns, 69 RBI and 89 BB. Switch-hits. Plays catcher!

OF Enrique Ferreira - Has super low contact but still hit .278 with an .820 OPS, 31 SB, 91 runs and a 3.8 WAR in just 133 games last year! It's a shock to me this guy went all year without one team taking a flyer.

P Tom Willhoute - Throws 100MPH and for his 427 career BLB innings he has a 5.4 WAR.

P Todd Ezzell - BLB career numbers: 437 IP, 3.23 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 8.9 WAR. Hasn't pitched much at all the past two years after the ulnar injury but could be worth a look.

                Seattle Pilots- 2017-2041

Pawtucket 3-3. We generally hold our own against the IL even in bad years.
Now to get past that 11-30 Ale record.

SP- Talley hot in AAA right now. So far the #2 pick has met expectations. Like our guys to get some playoff experience down there, then after bring up a couple of prospects and see what they can do.

As stated by Pat, see how next seasons free agency class goes. Might be time to start adding after a couple of seasons of building up the farm system. I refuse to ever let our owner to see one red cent. See how it goes.

With how awful Pat Verba has been this year, I'm impressed to see him with 50 RBI in 80 games played. His power seems to be returning and he's having a great August. If he has a great September, one might even forget he was so awful the previous months.
