.500 sim. Blew some saves. Wences cleared waivers and is now 9-3 with a 2.69 ERA and is very much available for a prospect/pick package.

Since the "DC3" trade, Washington is 50-42...

Skinner, Cardenas and Jobe have a combined WAR since the trade of roughly 8.5...

The Bats are currently 8.5 out of the Wild Card...

We are really, REALLY bad on the road this season.

On the positive note: Looks like our AA & AAA affiliates are poised to win they're respective divisions. This could be Lynn's first division since 1980 where they won the flag and predictably lost in the championship.

2-4 drops us back to .500. I'll hope we can improve but I think this season is an improvement in itself. Happy to see this team playing competitively. Just need guys to develop more and our staff to come together.

In another chapter of my hate affair for OOTP's bullpen management. Tony Perez is 25/26 in save situations. Yet he has a 4.32 ERA that makes him appear to be a shaky reliever. You might say, "Well, he's obviously saving 5-2 games that turn into 5-4 games."

And you'd be wrong. Because Tony Perez isn't doing that. Instead Tony Perez continues to be thrown into non-save situations as evidenced by his 50 appearances in the season despite only 26 save situations. I can understand an appearance here and there to stay fresh but that's not the case with him.

In ten days this month he has appeared in 5 games. None were save situations. Does he really need to be in every other game? That would be 81 appearances for my closer. What's the point? And that workload puts him in positions to give up runs and take losses pitching games he had no business being in. It's frustrating.

Meanwhile, Zack Mueller appears in ONE game all sim. He's been in one game all month. And it took 7 days for that to happen. But my manager would rather put Tony Perez in games before Zack Mueller.

Or CJ Evers. Congratulations, you've been called up. Now don't worry about dirtying your uniform. You won't need it.

We're 11 and a half games up in the Ale at this stage of the season. We have the best record in baseball. It's been that way pretty much all year.

I feel good about us. Fernando Hernandez will be back from his shoulder injury in time for a "shake the rust off" start or two before the playoffs. Jerrod Dapson is a couple weeks away from returning from his second multi-week injury of the season.

I'm keeping an eye on Zak Gaston. DH is the one position we could conceivably look to upgrade this month. Gaston has brought the batting eye but not the batting average I had hoped for. On the other hand, he's 37 years old, extremely popular, and looking for a ring. He's getting on base at a .395 clip against RHP. I'm not eager to mess with things.
