There's definitely some element of cohesion that plays a role.

On a similar note, I'm happy to see Nari Garin is hitting so well for you thus far. Good dude. I wanted to keep him. It just wasn't in the cards.

It's been tried. I think if a core exist maybe it can be done.

            Sadly you have no core.

Really? If anyone shouldn't trade with anyone, I should never trade with Jimmy!

                  1. LA sends:
                  1.20 '98
                  2.20 '98
                  AAA OF Del Taylor
                  AA P Ron Kimpton

                  DC sends:
                  P Derrek Tucker

Tucker went on to have 5 1/2 really great years in Los Angeles, including three All-Star games, and four trips to the playoffs. There only playoff appearances since 1984! He was then traded to Pawtucket for Shane Solum (LAD's current 1B), Tanner Solum (LAD's utility IF), Tony Infante (Pawtucket's current starting 2B), Mike Alvarado (28 year old average MR) when Tucker had one year left on his deal.

Taylor made the pros in 1998, got 92 ABs and then never got out of the minors while bouncing around the league. Kimpton was claimed by DVS after I tried to pass him through waivers.

I used both 1.20 and 2.20 in trades. But a late first and late second for five+ years of an ace SP...and then you can flip him in a trade for a collection of talent?

                  Winner: LAD

                  --

                  2. Los Angeles sends:
                  1.10 in 2003 Draft
                  SS RJ Johnson (A)

                  Washington sends:
                  CF JR Lowe (AAA)
                  MR Jon Vejar

Lowe has had a 26 WAR in five seasons. He's won three DWIs, two All-Stars and has averaged 35+ doubles, 30+ homeruns, 100+ RBI and 15 SB per 162, and he's only 28 years old. Vejar in 490 relief innings, he has a 3.27 ERA, 130 ERA+ and 6 WAR.

Johnson never made it and has retired. I used 1.10 in a trade. If you traded JR Lowe right now, he'd net you much more than 1.10, and he's already had five amazing seasons.

                  Winner: LAD

                  --

                  3 and 4)LAD sends:
                  2B Jeremiah Kelly

                  DC sends:
                  1B TJ Avila (AAA)
                  4.2006 (Windy City)

Kelly had a .781 OPS for LAD at the time and playing great defense. He hit at a .380 OPS down the stretch for DC. So I sent him back:

                  Washington sends:
                  IF Jeremiah Kelly

                  LAD sends:
                  5th Round Pick 2007

Kelly then hit at a .701 OPS and 98 OPS+, and played great defense.

                  Winner: LAD

                  5.) Washington sends:
                  SP Travis DuFour (DFA)

                  Los Angeles sends:
                  DH Eron Deleon
                  SP Tony Osario (a)
                  1.22 in 2008

DuFour was 2-3 with a 4.57 ERA, 1.26 WHIP in 14 starts with DC last year. Went to LAD and went 4-1, 2.45 ERA, 1.03 WHIP in 8 starts before hurting his finger and spending his first BLB time on the disabled list. He re-signed cheaply and looks like a very solid #3 SP for the next few years.

Deleon tore it up for me down the stretch but cost a lot more than DuFour and put me in the red. Osario is a SP/RP prospect that ranks #51. The first round pick is very late and if you look at this draft, there won't be first-round "talent" at the 22nd overall pick IMO.

                  Winner: Draw?

                  ---

To say that I "win" every trade is laughable. Just ask Jake and rookie of the year OF Makota Kataoka...who I gave up for C Dave D'Orio...who has turned out to be just awful.

What the fuck is up with Dave, anyway? Every scout in the world thinks the guy is Jesus, and yet he routinely hits .230 with mediocre power.

I don't think BLB'ers can overcome low eye and low avoid K. I think you can be good with one poor rating, but not two. I've seen good hitters with low eye...I've seen good hitters with low avoid K...he's the first "good hitter" with both low, and he isn't producing.

My scout thinks he should absolutely mash....and he has recently fallen to #18 on the top 24 catchers list.

5-1 and we're looking decent again.

Not sure what to make of the week. We brought the broom to Washington and I'm not sure about Seattle yet. Although its obvious Oto is for real.

We've gotten some good performances from Uribe and Matoon so far. Also Hamilton looks ageless without editing. I also noticed that Abraham Santana has creeped up to #2 on the Top Players List unseating both JJ and Al. Changing of the guard?

One thing I'm happy with is the fact that we've started the season 4-2 on the road despite going 2-5 at home so far. I figure there is a good chance we change our fortunes at home, but we need every win on the road that we can get.

                            Two things here...

1.) Katsunori Oto is a star but he isn't currently surrounded by a lot of talent to keep this winning record going. Hopefully he can be the superstar that leads Seattle to their 2nd winning season since 1998. They have the #2 Farm System, including five SPs in the top 40, and two RPs in the top 60. Seattle could be a contender here in a couple years if the prospects pan out.

2.) There were times last season that Abraham Santana was #1. Him, Pat Ladd, JJ Caplan and Al Hamilton have bounced between #1-#4 for the past season plus.

Kelly had a .781 OPS for LAD at the time and playing great defense. He hit at a .380 OPS down the stretch for DC. So I sent him back:

                                Washington sends:
                                IF Jeremiah Kelly

                                LAD sends:
                                5th Round Pick 2007

Kelly then hit at a .701 OPS and 98 OPS+, and played great defense.

                                Winner: LAD

                                5.) Washington sends:
                                SP Travis DuFour (DFA)

                                Los Angeles sends:
                                DH Eron Deleon
                                SP Tony Osario (a)
                                1.22 in 2008

DuFour was 2-3 with a 4.57 ERA, 1.26 WHIP in 14 starts with DC last year. Went to LAD and went 4-1, 2.45 ERA, 1.03 WHIP in 8 starts before hurting his finger and spending his first BLB time on the disabled list. He re-signed cheaply and looks like a very solid #3 SP for the next few years.

Deleon tore it up for me down the stretch but cost a lot more than DuFour and put me in the red. Osario is a SP/RP prospect that ranks #51. The first round pick is very late and if you look at this draft, there won't be first-round "talent" at the 22nd overall pick IMO.

                                Winner: Draw?

                                ---

To say that I "win" every trade is laughable. Just ask Jake and rookie of the year OF Makota Kataoka...who I gave up for C Dave D'Orio...who has turned out to be just awful.
The moral of this story is that only Jimmy should trade with Pat. Everyone else, just sit it out. I never said you win every trade, but trades aren't only about the players. They're about acquiring draft picks - which you are very good at packaging to draft in higher spots, creating financial flexibility, and making room for younger/cheaper players to move up.

Your sig tells everything anyone needs to know about trading with you, don't feed the WAS beast that has 5 titles and has missed the playoffs as many times as some of the bad teams have made the playoffs in 20 years.

Don't be a puppy killer, don't trade with WAS. - this PSA sponsored by the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and Muckdogs Baseball.
