C Torres Settles on Scorpions Proposal
    Sunday, December 16th, 2007
Death Valley fans were pleased with the signing of Danny Torres today. The 32-year-old inked a 1-year, $4,000,000 deal with the Scorpions.

Though his numbers don't jump out at you, Torres does fill a void for Death Valley, according to several respected analysts.

Checking out his career figures, Torres has played in 857 games with a .255 batting average. Among his 799 hits are 123 home runs. He also has scored 387 runs, stolen 1 bases and driven in 468 runs.

Veteran 3B Dunlap Settles on Dinos
    Sunday, December 16th, 2007
In what local scribes are hailing as huge, the Dinos inked a $12,000,000 deal with third baseman Pete Dunlap.

Team Officials expect Dunlap to fill an immediate void on the roster and felt the deal would make them an instant playoff contender.

Dunlap has registered a career batting average of .280 with 1590 hits, 22 homers and 535 RBIs.

    Veteran Ramírez, Pawtucket Complete Deal
    Sunday, December 16th, 2007
Patriots officials hailed the signing of Ismael Ramírez as "an integral piece to our championship puzzle," though fans were somewhat more reserved about the signing.

Ramírez will pocket $5,900,000 over 3 years.

In Ramírez's career he has 163 saves with a 52-57 record and a 2.96 ERA.

LF Tyler Quinn Ends Speculation; Signs with Toronto
    Sunday, December 16th, 2007
The Toronto Canadians have called a press conference later today to announce the signing of left fielder Tyler Quinn to a 2-year, $28,800,000 contract.

Both Quinn and the Canadians are said to be very pleased to come to this agreement.

In his career Quinn has accumulated a .238 batting average with 873 hits. His totals include 170 doubles, 32 triples, 203 home runs, 868 strikeouts, 558 runs scored, 664 RBIs and a lifetime .318 OBP.

    Veteran Memmoli Signs 3-Year Deal
    Sunday, December 16th, 2007
Maine has come to an agreement with hard working first baseman Lucca Memmoli which will keep the 37-year-old in town for 3 years and pay out $16,500,000.

Maine fans, although somewhat skeptical of his age, figure to be pleased when they see Memmoli at the park early every day for practice.

Memmoli is hitting at a .292 rate over his 1922-game career. Lifetime he has 375 doubles, 25 triples and 256 home runs with 1124 RBIs and 1071 runs scored.

It's Official: SP Curtis Signs with Reign
    Sunday, December 16th, 2007
The euphoria surrounding a big name deal can sometimes overshadow the deal itself. Occasionally a team will mortgage its future to make a big splash, though no one in Seattle was worried about that today as the club finalized terms with R.J. Curtis.

Curtis will earn $4,490,000 per year over 3 years.

Curtis has chalked up a lifetime ERA of 3.33 with 180 victories and 106 defeats. He has totaled 2475 career strikeouts in 2484.1 innings while holding opponents to a .234 batting average.

Yes! I got Torres. He was my main target this offseason (believe it or not). With the way Kroyer played last year (he was down) getting another C was important. Torres can switch hit and has much better ratings from my scout than OSA is giving him credit for and I think he's a perfect fit in this line-up.

The guy hit 15 homers, walked more than he struckout, and is a decent defender. I paid him $4m for just a year even though he was asking for about $10m over 4 seasons. This enables me to move Danny Salcedo back to 1B with the loss of Wessin Ramirez.

I could move Kroyer and Roark if anyone is interested in either. Still taking offers on SP Tony Wences.

We still have a little money to spend this year and next with Santoyo gone.

Yeah, sort of figured looking at your 40 man roster the other day. He's still a little raw, but could't pass on him. My guess is he won't be ranked with the March reset coming. Still, hoping his bat helps us.

Excited to have drafted OF Freddy Noel from Baltimore. He should slot in as our 4th outfielder. He's a scrappy OF with some speed and should be able to put the bat on the ball.

              Reminds me of Reed Johnson.

Need to consider some things. Signing the international and picking Flores. Thought I would get one of the two. Might work out.

I'm a big fan of Torres. Like the signing. Consider it but I need to give D'Orio full-time at bats to see if he is any good.

Pat Marlin stepped before the podium this afternoon with Indianapolis officials flanking him on both sides as he doffed the Clowns cap and announced he'd reached an agreement to play in Indianapolis for 2 years.

The deal, an estimated $32,000,000 in total, is widely seen as a positive move for an organization looking to upgrade their center fielder.
Just thinking back a year ago when I signed this fool for $700K. What a difference a season makes.

I think Indy over paid. I don't see a repeat performance.

Yeah, that's probably true, but it's a one year deal in reality. Not that big of a risk all things considered.
