  • 2007 Off-Season Sim 1 Complete - Next SIM Tues 8/19

    Next SIM: Tuesday 08/19

    - Files due by 12 am ET | 9 pm PT (late sim)
    - HTML and utility in a bit

    - Last chance to protect Rule 5 players.
    - Send your Rule 5 lists to me please.

    - WATCH YOUR DFA's please! If you trade for someone make sure you have room on the 40 man or I will have to find someone to DFA.
    - Also if you want someone released then release them. I still go by the principle of trying to find room on your roster for DFA players as I do during the season.

    - Please double check all trades.
    - FA is open for business...get out those checkbooks!

    Tues 8/19 - Free Agency 1 - Rule 5 Draft run - Dec 1st to Dec 15
    Thurs 8/21 - Free Agency 2 - Dec 15 to Jan 1
    Sat 8/23 - Free Agency 3 - Jan 1 to Jan 15
    Sun 8/24 - Free Agency 4 - Jan 15 to Feb 1
    Mon 8/25 - Free Agency 5 - Feb 1 to March 6 (ST)
    Wed 8/27 - Spring Training 1
    Thurs 8/28- Spring Training 2

Sorry the ridiculous long sim. Multiple trades plus several issues with DFA's.

New file up with Pitt/Dal trade.

Please make sure you have the latest file. Should show the Pitt/Dallas trade in it!

As you can see, we decided not to execute Tyler Quinn's 2008 team option for 9.5 million. It was really the 2009 player option for 12.8 that scared us off. It would've been roughly 5 million over what he made in 2007. It's probably something I should've taken into consideration when dealing for him, since I've never been a fan of the huge player option jumps in the final year of a player's contract, following a reasonable team option in the year prior.

Fernando Hernandez agreed to a three-year, $75 million contract extension. It will take him through his age-33 season. He should still be very productive at the end of it.

Tristan Romarigues also agreed to return on a smaller contract. It's uncertain at this stage whether he will start at second base or serve in a super-utility role.

Tom Hau wrecked us in arbitration. He got over $8 million. We submitted a $6.5 million figure. I can't say he's undeserving.

A couple interesting guys in this offseason's crop of international players. I'm guessing someone will handsomely pay Tara Tanaka.

Lol, new "neutral" scout from Jake and looking at the wild swings from my "tool" scout is awesome. He new guy thinks some of my players should quit the game of baseball. This is one positive about this version is the variation of views.

Disclosure, we had a 8.5 ml scouting budget last season. Curious Jake what was your budget?? (You don't have to say it if you don't want)

I can't wait for someone to pay $15 MM a year to a player my scout estimates will hit .220/.320/.350.

                    Astonishing work.

Not really. It's all about the draft class coming goof.

There's a lot of former Bat talent.

Also a lot of former Pawtucket players.

30ml payroll and a slew of drafts picks to build on. Could be time to jump back in the game.
