Can really coin flip these series. Well last season had a hunch the DL was due (Great job Z) and this season my hunch says a #1 team finally gets in.
With that....
LA over Pitt in 7- This series just looks like a drag down street fight. Neither will be an upset.
Cleveland over Syracuse in 6- Sorry Jake, just don't have the horses in this one. Hope I'm wrong about the #1 seed curse and its still alive and kicking!!
Washington over Batavia in 6- I said ONE number one seed would make it and two would be way too flagrant. Just a hunch series. I see Pat doing some magic in this one.
Death Valley over Windy City in 7- Just a dice roll. Jistic has been snake bitten and he maybe due for sure. BOTH teams were playing dam good baseball in the second half. I'll go recent history on this, nothing more.
Again, this is really tough to call. More then most seasons I've seen. Also doesn't appear the IL has any leg up on the DL right now. Its truly a crapshoot.
My predictions usually are usually go opposite of what ends up happening but here's my take.
Pitt over LA in 7 - Without DuFour I will be relying on two rookies to get the job done while Fudd, Rocha, Bermudez and Fain are a 4 ace combo with playoff experience. We have a better defense and BP but is there really any defense played in Pitt's stadium? To add to this is the fact that we have been out of the playoffs for some time and only a couple of the veterans I've acquired actually have sniffed the post-season.
Cleveland over Syracuse in 6 - Cleveland is filled with offense, defense and solid to elite pitching. To hard to bet against. All is not lost for Syracuse as the game loves exiting the team with the best record. They are a solid team still and, well, you just never know...
Batavia over Wash in 7 - Batavia is another juggernaut team with great pitching, but so does Washington. DuFour is gone but he did get a rejuvenated DeLeon who looks to be drinking from the fountain of youth (or needle). Pat is still a crafty veteran. If he can steal a game in Batavia he has a chance, especially at home. But if it goes to 7, Batavia wins.
WC over Death Valley in 6 - I think this is WC's year. 4 ace combo with some of the best hitting in the league. With several (disappointing) years of playoff bounces and I think they have had enough.
So far 4/4 on predictions. A very exciting post-season so far. I personally believe these are the four best teams in the BLB this year. No offense to LAD, DVS or SYR but Batavia and Cleveland are the class of the league right now, Windy City has a rotation like nothing we have seen and I think if Pittsburgh was active down the stretch (had your priorities right), they might have finished with the leagues best record.
Predictions!
The Buckeyes won 13 of the 21 meetings this season and get to start with a more rested rotation and home field. Both teams were much better at home so that potential extra game in Cleveland could be huge. Both have a significant injury but I think the Miller's is more significant. It went very unnoticed this year but SS Dusty Simmons hit .278 with a 33 doubles, 26 homeruns and 92 RBI in just 129 games for Pittsburgh. I expect high scoring games but Cleveland over Pittsburgh in six.
Batavia went 7-0 against the Playboys this year. The Muckdogs have two players in their lineup with 30 homeruns and two others with 20. The Playboys have just two with 20 and their 2nd best hitter Victor Robles will miss the series. I think Windy City's pitching will get a game or two but that's it. Batavia over Windy City in six.
Wilmington Wildcats- 2057- Seattle Pilots- 2017-2041 Washington Bats - 1979-2013
Let's not forget we swept a 4 game series to close the season against Cleveland. Sure they were resting, but that is huge motivation. My rotation doesn't give up a lot of runs, so we'll be in every game.
Simmons may have gone down, which is a blow, but even bigger, Schubert is back after missing a good chunk of the end of the season. His bat in the middle of our lineup will be a big addition. It'll be a close series.
