It will be interesting. Alot of teams are starting to carry a bit of a payroll now.

I'm definitely letting talent walk this year. Some in the last year of their deals but also some arbitration eligible and team options. This was kind of a last ditch effort with this group. The team will look a lot different next year.

Haraguchi wins ROTM. Haraguchi hurts himself and is gone for the playoffs. What a bummer. The #1 seed curse continues.

          I saw that...

On the bright side, your OF defense is now much improved.

We still kinda stink and are back at .500, but Ron Stone has been slamming a heck of a lot more out of the park than I expected and Johnathan Morris, who likely won't be back next year, is batter of the month.

It is going to be very interesting to see what old Mr. Morris chooses to do with his future. His $16.8M player option could really go either way. He's 36. Fragile. "Very high" loyalty. "Low" greed. "Low" desire for winning.

I think he accepts the player option.

Would surprise me if he didn't.

Like how you watched his character on this.

Its kind of the reason I took a chance on RF Ricky Adame & SP Dave Heath player options. My guess is one voids the final season.....maybe both.

I'm not sure what factors really come into play when a player has an option...

Realistically...I think he'd probably decline it. He won't get $17M in salary in Free-Agency but he might be able to land a two-year deal with a team option for a third year at maybe $12-$15M to play for a contender. Who knows. $17M is a lot to leave on the table.

Not sure how excited a 36-year-old will be to play for New Orleans next year. They are a .500 club this year but next year will probably take a step back.

Export in. Made a few roster adjustments. Active roster is now at 40. Need all the help I can get for this one.

Well, if Morris comes back, at least my fan interest won't take as awful a hit. All the fan favorites will pretty much be elsewhere next year except for maybe Morris and Fujiya at 1B.

Still trying to win because I'm nervous about what the hell our owner might do to our budget. I figure the more wins we finish with, the better.

I fully expect these asses to go 6-0 and we end up missing the playoffs by a single game.

I think you should be proud of your team. Like I said in the Awards thread, for any team to lose a hitter of Hamilton's abilities, especially one that you had just traded for, could be devastating to any season. Not to mention the Gomez (twice), Katsura and Inouye lengthy injuries. You were competitive the whole year in the IL's best division.

Plus, if you go 6-0, to miss the playoffs by one game, DC would have to go 1-5...I don't see that happening.

I would imagine it has a lot to do with his expectation...what did he expect from the defending champions? A .500 season?
