              Domestic League Top Hurler Announced

25-year-old Gil Brummett of the Cleveland Buckeyes put together a good year in 2007 for such a young player. Brummett was named today as the winner of the Domestic League Pale Ale Pitcher Award.

Brummett crafted an impressive 20-7 record and a 2.23 ERA. In 230 innings he allowed 192 hits, struck out 199, and walked 44.

DL's Premier Hitter for 2007 Named

It was a season to remember for Abraham Santana and one for his opposing pitchers to forget. The catcher for New York has claimed the 2007 Stout Slugger Award with a .275 batting average.

Santana rang up 136 hits, 37 doubles, no triples, 31 home runs, 93 RBIs and 88 runs scored. He also posted a .407 on-base percentage in his award-winning season.

Kataoka Snares DL Refreshing New Brew Award

It was a very productive rookie season for Syracuse right fielder Makato Kataoka. He made the club, made the starting lineup, then in the regular season put up numbers impressive enough that the Domestic League presented him the league's Refreshing New Brew Award for 2007.

It was a season to remember for the 24-year-old Slammers newcomer. In addition to hitting .303, Kataoka played in 138 games and collected 9 home runs, 63 RBIs and 63 runs scored.

DL Rewards Top Defenders for 2007

Good glovemen take pride in their defensive skills. They know they make a difference in baseball. Even on days when they don't get a hit, they feel they can make a difference in the field -- and they do. The Domestic League announced its Defense With Integrity (DWI) Award honorees for 2007. This year's recipients are:

Pitcher: Dave Crudge (New Orleans Dukes)

Big Year For Gonzalez, Wins IL Pale Ale Pitcher Award

The Batavia Muckdogs have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making.
It's Danny Gonzalez, this year's Import League Pale Ale Pitcher Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance.

Gonzalez compiled a 23-2 record in 29 starts, tallied 177 strikeouts in 221.1 innings and recorded a 1.83 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .203 batting average against him.

Feliciano Tops IL Best Batter List

Morgantown's Hector Feliciano put the wraps on a fine campaign today by winning the 2007 Import League Stout Slugger Award.

The 28-year-old veteran scorched the opposition with a .312 average, picking up 198 hits, 41 doubles, 3 triples, 41 home runs and 114 RBIs, while scoring 103 runs.

              IL's Best Rookie Crowned

In his first season, Hidetoshi Haraguchi not only won the hearts and cheers of the local Batavia fans, he also nabbed the Import League Refreshing New Brew Award.

This gifted right fielder compiled a .280 batting average while collecting 19 home runs and 74 RBIs with a .382 on-base percentage and scoring 97 runs.

Sad for JJ Ballos he didn't get the Last Call. I thought this may be the year, and he was out front in early voting. While in the shadow of Nakashima the last decade, he's quietly put up pretty solid numbers and I think he's been the best reliever in the league the last two years. Tulun had a nice year, but with respect to Jimmy, he won based off of "sort by saves."

                  Ballos: 87 games(1st), 125.7 IP (2nd), 159 Ks(1st), 1.93 ERA(4th), 0.89 WHIP (6th), 1.41 FIP (1st), 5.0 WAR (1st)
                  Tulun: 73 G, 75 IP, 84 K, 2.40 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 2.24 FIP, 2.2 WAR.
                  Charlotte Knights - OSFL
                  Syracuse Slammers - BLB
South America - 1984 WBC Runner Up

                      Don't blame me. I voted Ballos-Nakashima 1-2 and didn't vote for Tulun.
