We have a winning record and it looks like we may actually finish with one, so maybe my owner won't be pissed.

Alex Armenta doing decent since being called up.

We take 3 of 4 from Dallas, but they keep hanging around. Should be a great stretch run and we finish with 4 against them, so, it'll obviously come down to the last week.

Oddly enough I think this is maybe our best squad we've had during this post 2000 run; I love our chances in the playoffs, even against Cleveland, but don't have a ton of confidence that we can even get there.

I like your squad this year, but I think that 98-win team in 2004 was better. It had several hitters having career years, anchored by Robby Aten's breakout season, brilliant pitching from Jody Richards, a solid rest of the rotation, and a lights out bullpen.

I thought you got unlucky that year finishing a few games below what your run differential and bullpen would have dictated, and then having to play as the Wild Card and go to Pawtucket on the road.

Looking back on your history, you have had a nice little run here the past seven seasons. Six playoff trips, never finishing worst than 2nd place and one DL title to show for it.

For a franchise with only two playoff appearances from 1978-2000...that's impressive.

Jake's a better owner than he gets credit for. He's been unfortunate to run into strong Indianapolis teams and have shitty luck in the postseason. He's been the Wild Card team in most of his playoff trips this decade and that always carries with it a disadvantage.

You don't have to tell me that....I used to be Wild Card to Clay almost every year.

I know you get it. I was speaking to the other owners.

                    Ha, thanks guys.

Z, you're probably right about 2004. The solid pen has been a constant through the run, and although the names and talent in the pen were better in '04, without looking I think the numbers may be better this year. Richards is also on the downside of his prime, but I think we're deeper 1-5 in the rotation as well. Velasquez has been a real nice find in the early 2nd.

Offensively, our middle infield is mediocre at best, but Luna, Tiscareno, and Cavazos have all matured into a solid base.

Think I looked at it once, but the 2 seed has been the sweet spot this decade. 1st seed has been plain awful. Baltimore was the last one to get to Brewmaster ?

Teams have overcome the disadvantage, but it is a disadvantage. You always want to have home field advantage and play as poor of an opponent as possible.
