Come to think of it, I don't usually do escalating contracts that are that lopsided from beginning year salary versus final year salary. I'm afraid I ended up submitting the default contract the game was asking for? Sigh.

Call me crazy, but I think Colin Anderson is a solid addition for us. We have two nice options at 1B now. Going to move Salcedo back to C full time.

My scout always liked Anderson but the dude just never seemed to hit for us. I would have platooned him and Finkler at 1B last season if we hadn't signed Camilo.

I was able to lock up Perales and Gruell to pretty reasonable long term deals. I'm still going to try to bring Watts back as well but will need to see where we are budget wise during the season.

So Matt, Brad, how does this work?

I DFAed guys that I wanted exposed to the Rule 5 and then placed in my minor league system if they weren't.

Instead, they weren't drafted and now they have BLB contracts. I haven't looked at the file, but I'm assuming they were simply placed on the BLB roster. I would have preferred that didn't happen.

I didn't lose any one in the rule 5 draft this year, but I agree that it should probably go away or we institute a rule that says top 100 guys are never eligible for the rule 5.

It really takes some of the realism out because what team in their right mind would let a top 100 guy walk for nothing. Or like what happened to me when my starting catcher got drafted by Linty when I first joined the league. He was on my active roster and had started almost the whole season before the rule 5 but was still able to be drafted.

EDIT: I also want to hop on what Sully said, I thought we agreed not to take anyone from NO and PITT, so I did not add anyone from their teams to my list even though wanted to. Even though Boughner is not on the realm of the guys Delandis is talking about that he lost, Boughner should still be returned to NO for the new owner.

Hold up...who did I steal from you? Houck? Didn't I give him back because you said it was a mistake?

I have no issue with "its a mistake" and I can send him back, but then I'm taking another guy off my list from some team who drafted them.(probably Pats draft pick if I remember my list) No way having the #1 pick is Pawtucket walking away empty handed on this one.

We're not going down that rabbit hole. If you want to give him back that is fine, but to start a domino effect with all other picks would be a mess.

This isn't the first Rule 5 snafu and it won't be the last. I think this is probably the 5th thread in Rules about it. I was pretty big into getting rid of it seasons ago but over time you all rejected all my proposals on Option Years and crushed my spirit. I'm just a broken shell now.

At least from all the discussion I'm glad you guys still care about the league. I mean UMD is still bitter about a player he lost a long time ago for a team he doesn't even run anymore. That should be somewhere in the path leading to the dark side...

P.S. We actually had two applications for NO which will now be filled after Sunday's sim. An announcement will be shortcoming. Let's not let our familiarity with each other confuse another new owner into thinking we're all old and crotchety.

I sent a 21 person list out. Think he was #4, but I'll have to check. You do know this isn't even a top 100 prospect we are talking about

C'mon Clown. You know better than most to look past the Top 100 players.

Like I said, I'm fine with you guys not returning them but keeping him is still not in the sprit of what Rule 5 is trying to accomplish. I wasn't stashing Ruedas. He would've gotten called up last year if he didn't get injured.


But enough about Rule 5. Picked up Oleschlager on a low risk contract. Full circle for him.
