Well I mean, I extended Pang in the postseason, and clearly I couldn't have done that unless I had enough projected budget room. I know, because the deal took me up close to my budget at the time.

It seems like the only logical option that isn't a glitch is that my owner cut our budget by $14 million after winning a championship, which doesn't make sense to me either.

Do you know what your budget was last season? For this season it looks to be right in line with your revenue from last year so I'm not sure what the issue is. As far as I know, the option to have the owner set the budgets is disabled. We have access to our entire revenue.

Maybe he gave it to us.

Since Alvarez voided a 16M extension (color me surprised), we've got 70MM available for contracts and NO draft picks.

Guess what we're doing this off-season?

Driving up the cost of FA's so that Z wonders where all his money went!

And congrats on the victory Z. I gave you your own banner in the award section for '06.

Brad and I are obviously doing something wrong now that we've simmed 5 seasons and only won one combined championship.

I don't remember what the budget was precisely, but I do remember that as of the previous sim, budget - (players+staff+scouting+PD) = about $363K.

I'm not saying that the numbers don't line up for 2007--they appear to--but I don't understand why the number just magically changed from in the green to being $14 million in the red, and why I would have been able to extend Pang had this been the outcome.

Congrats to Z. What a season and playoff showing.

Not to sound too much like sour grapes...but I really wish I was able to export for the post-season. Would have adjusted my roster a few times...and I thought I would be back before the Brewmasters, so I had never made my vs. DH lineups. I'm not going to say it cost me the series but I would have liked to know I gave it my best effort.

Funny/interesting finish to the series though. I got back late last night. Completely delusional after partying all weekend and getting very little sleep. My flight was delayed so I didn't home until after 1AM. Fired up the computer. Looked at my pitching options. I knew I would throw Hanback in Game 6. In Game 7 I could have gone with either Travis DuFour or Terry Bornemann. I elected to go with DuFour as he has done so much for the franchise. He injures himself before getting out of the first inning and likely costs me the series. Even more interesting, he had has a team option for $11.5M and his injury diagnosis is still pending. Fucking great.

Hell of a year boys. Very impressive showings by a lot of teams out there. I think my team will be solid next year but the IL is going to be tough to win again.

I have a copy from just before the end of the Brewmasters and now a copy after pushing to the offseason. I can do a full blown audit of team financials if needed. From first glance (and it was just a glance) I don't see anything that out of the ordinary.

Z, since you've specifically expressed concern over your team's outlook, I'll start with you. It'll be this evening before I can dive in, but we'll make sure everything ties together and that there was no $$ leak.

Death Valley is the only one that looks out of whack to me. If you look at his salaries page it shows $79m for 2007 but if you look at his financial report it says his payroll is $103m.

I think Financials are always a little off between the end of the season and start of FA.

This is very true. There's a period where the math is a mix of last year's and the upcoming year and it never makes sense. The rollover to Jan 1 straightens that out. However, it never hurts to do an actual review to make sure things still add up.
