2006 End of Season Awards - Vote please

It seems like every year I vote and wonder how in the world Morgantown isn't winning? They always seem to have a slew of guys with really good numbers.

Do ya one better, the past 3 seasons if we went by pure stats WC should of racked up 3 Brewmasters already. Either last season or before I could voted WC on every IL award.

      Lol, sometimes stats lie.

Oh and without a doubt Delandis gets the GM of the year award with Nelmsm a close 2nd. Might of given it to him if he pulled out the Bock, but all things being equal Davenport been drafting high for 50 years where Delandis used the build on the fly approach and took out the defending champs.

        Spectre 3rd.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. It's really hard to believe that this team was only 2 games worse than last year's squad. Too bad we face WC. We just don't match up well against them (AGAIN), so we expect a much quicker exit than the last time we met in the playoffs.

I thought with all the injuries, Z should really win this year. He made a few moves to keep it all afloat and kept it together down the stretch. With Spectre's injuries, he may make some noise down the stretch. I also agree that if Davenport pulls it out against WC, they get my 1st place vote. So they get 2nd. I gave the Prez's customary #3 to Pittsburgh for realized potential.

I always end up getting a few votes for this award, but I don't think I've ever won or been a serious contender, though there have been a few years where I thought I could have been.

Think in past years I've given you a 2nd or 3rd. This season had some good candidates. Did anyone really expect Davenport to push WC this season? Did anyone expect Baltimore to knock Batavia out of the playoffs? And what was up with the New York team having the Lager wrapped up by May?

You did a great job as always lol but I held your team to a higher standard.(plus your getting some free wins from that bad Pawtucket team)

This was one of the hardest seasons I can remember for GM of the Year. I gave DAV the nod, but I could just have easily chosen Prez or Spec. Pat, Wetts and Z with his injuries are just below them and could have won many other seasons.

Right or wrong, this league award goes to GMs who tear down their teams, win 50-60 games and draft in the top five for a few years, and watch their team rise back up to the top of the standings.

If you look at the history of GMs who have won the award, that methodology is how they did it.

I'm not saying I'm getting screwed--I'm not trying to win the award--or that there isn't value or skilled involved in the tear downs, but my organizational philosophy isn't valued by the award voters.

And Pat's far better at this strategy than I am, so if anyone should be winning awards for it, it's him.

I agree with what you said, that's how I won in Hartford - drafting high for 4 seasons. Same with DVS.

I think when I broke down how teams were built last season it showed some interesting tendencies for building teams.

I think you would see something similar if you looked at franchise success or failures over time patterns.

Ian Reynolds had one hell of a season. He might be one of the most underrated power guys of this era - even I forget about him behind Watts, Salcedo and Cash sometimes.

He hit .266 this season the highest in 3 seasons. Since his first full season in MAI, he's been an excellent power guy. Sure does strike out a ton though...

He's a nice player. I would have been happy to keep him. No regrets with getting Fernando Hernandez in return though.
