Took three of four from Pittsburgh. We're still 14 games back in the Ale, but a comfortable five ahead now for the DL Wild Card.

Pawtucket making a strong move for the top pick now.

Tyler Gerald is the only respectable player left on our team, #14 on the top player list.

Minors, up to 4 prospects now. Going in the right direction.

Took 3 of 4 against the Clowns.

Verba struck gold a couple times.

Our 3rd overall pick Dave Perkins is hitting .400 in AAA.

                4-0 week. Swept Wilmington in four close games: 3-1, 3-2, 6-2, 5-2.

Good: 1999 1.10 SP Zachary Koenemann got his first BLB start of the season after spending the entire first half in the bullpen. His line: 7 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 6 K in a 5-2 win. Not sure if he will ever learn that control (now 28 years old) but a promising start. He will be spend more time in the rotation now that the Bats have switched to the 6-man rotation for the 2nd half.

Good: New closer Armando Ureste is 5/5 in save opportunities. 5 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 8 K. Dominant.

Bad: 3B Tyler McLouth has hit a wall. After hitting .381 with a .905 OPS in June and signing a new contract, he is hitting .208 with a .526 OPS in July. Not a good sign from a player with "Very High" greed. Got paid, now he sucks again.

Bad: My two 2B on the roster, Steven Bailey and Orlando Saucedo have a combined OPS of .590. The possible savior top prospect 2B Danny Romero (AAA) has ankle soreness and will miss the next two weeks. This likely derails any plans of a call up at least until September. The other option, Cy Gray who during his rehab stint in Triple-A is hitting .200 with a .606 OPS. At least they all can play defense....

Hey, how about those Brawlers! Go into Windy City and take 3 out 4. Didn't see that coming. I think I'll have to crack that new bottle of Jameson's I got the other day and enjoy the moment while I can.

Well played. Love having the competition in the division. Davenport is for real.

Unfortunately we got real problems. Nobody can hit anymore. And now Tyler Kling who has been lights out is gone for the year. Have to move Abnormal back into the 5th spot.

We need to shake things up I feel. Anyone looking to move an impact hitter hit me up.

We've had a Tom Swanson sighting. He's really bounced back in June and July after getting off to a terrible start to the season.

And, we lose Pat Brining for a month. He's really shown us a bit in his short time in the BLB. He's reinforced the idea that he could be a legit 4th OF option going forward who can actually contribute when he's on the field.

Big week upcoming as we face California and Batavia in 6 big divisional games for the week.

We decided to give Hardin another chance at the top level following a strong performance in AAA. I'm hoping that he was just rusty when we signed him and the time in AAA has gotten him into the swing of things. Also, former Hurricane star, Zack Greenwood will be returning after sitting out for almost 2 months due to a partially torn labrum. Zack started the year off strongly and will likely sprinkle in a few starts this week before returning as an everday starter versus RHP.

Adding both of these guys should give us a little more pop in the lineup, which has gotten better of late but we are still dead last in the IL in home runs.
