          3-3. Again. Perales and Watts heating up. Still in shouting distance of the WC. We also get out of the red by trading Mac Aaron and will have money next season to spend by declining Torres. I think we start making our run Aug. 1 - we struggled this time last year too. Colin Reed comes back, he's having a solid season and that should help.

            4-2 week. Half game back of Windy City for the #1 seed in the IL.

            Good: New closer Armando Ureste went two for two in save opportunities. Always loved this guy and never understood why teams continued to play him as a starter.

            Bad: #19 Top Player OF BJ Jobe broke his finger and will miss the next four weeks. I have OF depth to make up for the loss but I'm afraid the time off could put him in a slump coming back.

            Good: IF Antonio Cardenas continues to improve defensively at SS. I took a chance that he could figure it out after trading for him at the deadline last year. If he had enough innings to qualify he would rank #1 in efficiency, #3 in zone rating and #3 in range factor.

            Bad: Speaking of defense, it doesn't look like Mal Brady really has the ability to defend back there. He will have a defensive replacement and with BJ Jobe out, he moves to 1B. But come playoff time, I hope he doesn't cost me behind the plate.

              3-4, so about what I expect any week we face WC nowadays. Silver lining when going 1-3 against WC: Nice to rough us Mejia enough to make him miss the All-Star game (he-he).


              Our only All-Star was Alex Gomez (OF) who is havin the best season of his career right now. It also looks like Durham probably didn't have enough AB to make the cut for eligibility, but if he had he'd be our second participant.

                          Jamie McPherson hit .400 for the week. He is currently slugging better in the majors than he did in the minors. Of his 32 hits, half are extra base hits.

                          And he's #14 on the Top Players List.

                          We still suck.
